Just a note: I think we should make it clear that "Best Performance -- Mafia" refers to all non-SK scumgroups. Bamboomancer got a nomination for being a cult recruit who managed to win Best of the Interent Mafia. Obviously cults are rare enough that they don't warrant their own groups. But exceptional cultist performances still require a category into which they can fit.-

I'd like to suggest "Best (or Funniest) Post" and "Best Performance in a Losing Effort" (Town/Mafia, or in general) as potential categories for this coming year's Scummies.-

If TSQ wins, can we rename the award "The Coffee Up MeMe's Nose Award"?

These nubs don't appreciate the awesomeness that was BJ.Tamuz wrote:ShadowLurker wrote:I think Most Prolific should go to the person who has best made an impression overall on people for ingame reasons whether it be for playstyle or whatever. This requires a person to be in many games to have exposure with people and simply can't be done through a smoke and mirrors thing. This fits Fritz (who's playing style was infamous and still is to a lesser extent) and spectrumvoid (as someone who's schtick is to be in EVERY SINGLE GAME).
Huh?
You mean BJ not Fritz, right?
Oh wait, that probably sounded too elitist.
These nubs don't appreciate the awesomeness that was BJ.
Man... I miss BJ.-

Take Ibby, for instance. She always seemed to live long in her games... she consistently did well, and she was a very good player.
'Nuff said.-

Pssst. Self-nominations and self-secondations (yay, new words) are somewhat taboo. Shame on both Sim and YB.
Reading the game, I'm not all that impressed. Nevertheless, I'll nominate it just for the sake of going through the motions.-

I realize that, but I've seen several "perfect games" (heck, I was *in* two of them -- Graduation Mafia and Sesame Street Mafia) that were really only made possible because the scums played absolutelyYogurtBandit wrote:

But I would also attest that that didn't happen due to terrible play by the scums. It took some actual, serious scumhunting.-

I think we were trying to figure out how exactly whe want to define the Most Prolific award.
I would definitely consider supporting a "Super Substitute" award, for players who consistently are willing to replace/contribute to games.-

Nominate: Mr Stoofer for Most Enjoyable Large Game for Mafia 60: Face-to-Face.
I think everyone in the game enjoyed it immensely. Thesp said it was one of the most enjoyable games he had ever played in, MBL seemed incredibly upbeat and happy about the game as a whole despite losing closely at the end, and it really had all of the drama that you could possibly hope for. Oh yeah... and I myself had a lot of fun, even if it was horribly stressful as a player, at times.
Nominate: Thesp for Best Mafia Catcher
Mafia 60: Face-to-Face (link above) and Two-Headed Mafia 2 are the examples of his play that I can think of off the top of my head, but I'm sure there's more.
In Mafia 60, he latched onto one scum (CDB) as early as D1, stuck to another scum (CES) once CDB went down, and had the final scum (MBL) on his radar throughout most of the game. I thought his play was easily the most stellar of the game
Two-Headed 2, he replaced into the game though he only made three posts before being nightkilled, he latched onto TWO of the three Mafia-pairs (Glork/MoS and Adele/Pooky) there. In fact, he was nightkilled immediately after replacing into the game in part because we felt he was way too big a threat to our survival.-

This whole debate is silly. Everyone knows that Quality is way more important than Quantity, which is why Thesp is going to win Paragon and Prolific had become uncool.
I was going to turn this into a really long post, but I am tired and lazy.-

Do I get another nomination now? Perhaps some kind of Humanitarian Award?-

I donno, I think the "most consistent protown player" is the Paragon already. My nomination last year included a slew of games. One of the games people threw around was Cultural Revolution, which the town ended up losing (due to a combination of poor balance and poor late-game play by the rest ofthe town).-

Actually, I think it'd be worse than Paragon. Whereas I have to put up with terrible arguments about my failure to catch scum, the Don would probably just get investigated N1 for numerous straight games. At least with the Oscar for Best Performance: Mafia, it not only goes out to several players, but also represents just a single game -- a flash of brilliance, so to speak.-

Did you read PJ's claim in Space Monkey? It wasn't "good" by any means, except that he was telling the truth about it. But the circumstances surrounding it (and really, the ensuing "oh, thank goodness" post) was absolutely priceless. It was the kind of thing that people were saying would go down in Scum Lore.Simenon wrote:
It's certainly not brilliant, but it's hilarious. It was the second time I've actually laughed out loud reading a mafia game (first was the Loser Claim), which is what Funniest Claim probably should be. If you want to nominate someone for a good claim, there's already an award for it.That's not funny. It's just terrible. :/-

It might fit better forBest Performance -- Townunless there are several games for which you wish to give MoS the Paragon award.-

The proposed added categories are not necessarily going to be used. That list is primarily for bookkeeping purposes.-

Oh, that game we played in scumchat? I forget what it's called. But it was freaking awesome, and I'd be interested to see it in forum format.
EDIT: The fact that it never made an appearance on MS (as far as I can tell) probably invalidates it from recieving a possible award, though.-
