In my head there was gonna be some weird shit with town trying to convince scum that they were scum but I cut too much out of the setup

Well in the future, at a bare minimum in low information/intentional shitpushing phase, I won't use that type of push again, because it doesn't seem like it'd make you easier to read if it sets off a button

townie has roughly 50% chance of SR'ing one scum, and if you lynch that and scholar survives it's guaranteed town win
