The game I accidentally caused my new player scum partner in a newbie game to die Day 1, then I went the distance in a game that made me go "yeah, it's really not fair for me to ever roll scum in a newbie game". Only happened twice, in my like 30+ newbies, and I'm 1-1 as scum in them.

They were scum with me to a good, clean victory that I look back on fondly, and then they felt the wrath of scum me, and watched another scum game of mine, but I don't know if they'd be able to reliably town read me right now.

But yeah, Dkkoba's going to end up being top notch at reading me, and I'm excited for that, so I'll say yes. They are good at reading me.

Yes I should have because I was surprised by it but I was more focused on getting a reaction from Ico. I wanted to get Iconeum’s reaction first and probably only if I liked it would it have occurred to me. I generally tend to ask questions if something pings me and maybe based on what you’re saying it should have but it didn’t. Probably because I’ve seen plenty of players react like you did to those kind of opening posts.

I’ve never played with Shea before so I just ISO’d him in both a town and scum game so my tr on him may possibly have been premature based off of that. No it absolutely wasn’t. You gave me the impression that if I don’t meet some standard - activitywise. Auro might scumread me for that and after PA, I would think you’d expect me to be super paranoid of anything like that. So no, it totally was not an “over reaction”.

The things you say about your teammates help me to read you. That was one of the things that helped me locktown Eddie last year, so I think it’s kind’ve ridiculous for you to expect me to divorce my read of you from what Auro says and I wouldn’t expect you or anyone else in this game to do that either.

Because I don't see scum motivation to do it and I tend to think town is more carefree about stuff like that as scum. At least for me I tend to be more tight and controlled with my posting when I'm scum and thinking more in depth about the ramifications of what I'm doing for overall game state. So I'm probably projecting a little bit here from myself onto zor but that's why I said 'if anything.' I don't think its a super townie point or anything but if anything I think its more likely to come from town than scum, which is why I was perturbed when like 3 people immediately said "yeah this is scummy."

Didn't say it was a bad vote. Was saying I didn't understand it given that I don't think zor has done anything that I find scummy and the post in question I think is slightly more likely to come from town than scum. If its just like a "hey, lets push on this a bit to see if it falls over" then its not a bad vote, but if its not that and its a vote with a more pronounced scum read I think its weird.

So I'm conflicted about this, yeah the entrance is kind of similar. Not sure its really all THAT similar, but there are similarities.

Additionally I went back through like 20 games of pine and was unable to find any town games where they did this. At the same time, there were plenty of scum games where he didn't do this and this is literally the only example where he did. So like, it seems like a pretty weak point to me, basically.

Some thoughts from Reck:

1) He thinks bbmolla's entrance with calling FL scum that can be left for later is super weird and pithy but he's getting idgaf vibes from him and he thinks that's town lean. He thinks there's negative points for voting pine for lurking/not posting yet.

2) He thinks FL open claiming scum in post 54 is exactly the kind of ballsy wink nod play that FL gets away with as scum all the time.

3) Or Zor he says: zor is scum. a) for doing a bad rap. for b) because his team making the claim FL's vote was scummy and then doubling down and saying the burden of proof is on me ("don't YOU think its scummy?") is really bad. He thinks it's zor pass off his teams thoughts as way more interesting than they actually are and then tossing the ball back to me and running away when he can't defend it.

3) He thinks Akarins entrance into the game is very bad and lazy. Textbook avoiding direct commentary on the game, avoiding talking about ram, fluffy content about IRL to avoid addressing the game. He thinks its a perfect example of empty content meant to look important.

4) Pines entrance is stupid. NAI, just stupid.

I actually don't really agree with a lot of this. I think BBMolla is not doing much and I don't really think I can get to a town read from there, I also don't think its entirely clear that BBMolla is voting pine for not posting. Obviously I don't fully agree on Zor but I will say the way he's putting it isnt an angle I had considered.

In CoD, scum!FL agressively tried to control the game, he did that in PA too. He also agressively tried to manipulate other people’s votes. I don’t see him doing that here.

I feel like I have a good take on things right now, but I don't have any scum reads yet. I have a lot of "this could be scum, this could be", like with Mistyx and Nancy they both did things I thought was scummy, but then flipped and did things I thought was townie.

I think there’s only a few players who are really good at reading me, which is Mastina, Isis jjh and I think Ydrasse. I am not usually obvtown on D1 but absolutely by later in the game. Among this playerlist, Norwee has read me correctly twice in 2/3 games where he was town.

@TGP, when are you ever going to read me correctly? I think after you wrongly sr me in Dung Beetle, you would have a clue how to read me better. And ftr, it is TM so I’m obviously going to incorporate my team’s advice so that’s an extremely silly reason for voting me.

I'm not a fan of your response to my push at all - specifically, I don't like the way you generalize my incorrect read on you in dung beetle (where you were part of a hydra, to boot) and then specifically apply it to this game, where you ask "when i'm ever going to read you correctly". a towny, game-contributing way to incorporate your teammate's advice would be to do so like shea does below, where you present your team's thoughts and then your analyses of them, as opposed to hiding behind Koba.

Some thoughts from Reck:

1) He thinks bbmolla's entrance with calling FL scum that can be left for later is super weird and pithy but he's getting idgaf vibes from him and he thinks that's town lean. He thinks there's negative points for voting pine for lurking/not posting yet.

2) He thinks FL open claiming scum in post 54 is exactly the kind of ballsy wink nod play that FL gets away with as scum all the time.

3) Or Zor he says: zor is scum. a) for doing a bad rap. for b) because his team making the claim FL's vote was scummy and then doubling down and saying the burden of proof is on me ("don't YOU think its scummy?") is really bad. He thinks it's zor pass off his teams thoughts as way more interesting than they actually are and then tossing the ball back to me and running away when he can't defend it.

3) He thinks Akarins entrance into the game is very bad and lazy. Textbook avoiding direct commentary on the game, avoiding talking about ram, fluffy content about IRL to avoid addressing the game. He thinks its a perfect example of empty content meant to look important.

4) Pines entrance is stupid. NAI, just stupid.

I actually don't really agree with a lot of this. I think BBMolla is not doing much and I don't really think I can get to a town read from there, I also don't think its entirely clear that BBMolla is voting pine for not posting. Obviously I don't fully agree on Zor but I will say the way he's putting it isnt an angle I had considered.

Not the biggest fan of their ISO. Some of their posts sound fake.
Such as seeling the narrative that MistyX might be chainsawing and could be an teammate of Zoraster in post 453. (I'm not getting that vibe at all)
Claiming he agrees i'm town but disagrees about meta being a tell. (Even thought meta seems to be the reason he townreads me?)

while i agree for the most part that norwee is town here, i disagree that his scum and town game are anything close to night and day - mastina and i, for example, both hard-scumread him in d1 of mystery box of silver 10, and then he was mod-confirmed town the day after. meta shifts, people play differently, efforting scum can match their town-meta in an important game such as this.

I'm not scumreading TGP to the extent that i'd want him as an elimination over certain other slots if they don't improve. But i'm not really trusting them or seeing the same kind of attitude they had as town in Dung Beetle.

meta is absolutely a useful tool for sorting, and i feel like what i'm saying here is being mischaracterized. norwee, you seem town largely because of meta, but i don't think your meta is nearly as polarized as nancy is trying to imply here, and i also don't think her characterization of you in that way is reasonable or a valuable tool for sorting.

A very late follow up: Flavor's vote on mist (long ago!) looked like an attempt to look busy, and misty's response was totally reasonable so it plays as very contrived. Which is frankly how I read Flavor overall this game.

For example, the interaction between DEB and Flavor is weird. I've been informed by my more knowledgeable teammate that Flavor and DEB know each other well and that lurking would not be seen as alignment indicative for DEB. Then DEB comes in and says "oh hi" and Flavor is suddenly off that? I have no idea about DEB, but it doesn't make me feel good about Flavor.

Busy-ness being the code word here. It's doing very little work, but it's being very active and in front. Pushing a wagon against him would be

It’s absolutely batshit insane and makes no damn sense, is indignant and abrasive, and is about as self-aware as a basset hound, but that’s what Nancy!Town looks like.

Why is this “insane” and lack “self-awareness”? Certain people have meta on me and of the two slots who have expressed srs on me, they both have teammates who should know this is my town meta here.

I appreciate that. I’m not scumlocking either of these slots but I disagree with you that it’s a totally unreasonable argument to make. Especially since I outright asked him about Noraa but we’ll see how both of them respond.

Wrt to Shea, Koba is convinced he’s scum (but they said that before I pointed that out) but that argument about us possibly being aligned reads possibly town indicative to me because it’s actually only scummy if one of us were his buddy and I obviously know I’m town and I feel very sure you are now as well, so likely that probably makes Shea town as well.

I’m also sus on TGP for reasons other than how his teammates read me. It’s the illogical stances he’s making on me/Zor and me/Norwee. It’s also a very silly reason for sr me - that I trusted my teammate’s advice. Yes, it’s definitely possible he’s town doing it but when you also take into account that he’s not really trying to sort me despite knowingly being wrong on me twice, it’s a fine slot to put a little pressure on.

I have grown in that well you were in my game last year, so I’ve definitely made huge gains wrt to playing toxic anyway.

How do you read Zor?

So I think Norwee, FL, you, Ico, Misty, Molla and Shea (because of push on us as possible buddies) are possibly all town. That leaves Ram, Akarin, Zor, TGP and DEB. Of those 5, I haven’t really been pinged by either Akarin or Ram, so that would leave Zor, TGP, DEB. Now that’s of course dependent on my reads being correct of course and some of them are probably wrong. Is it in Shea’s scum meta to fake push 2 TTs as possible buddies? If so then he’s an absolutely brilliant scumplayer but more likely that’s an actual townslip.

this seems like an incredibly diplomatic way to say "I think you're scum" that doesn't really jive with how I generally approach my scum reads nor does it jive with how I've seen TGP approach their scum reads in other games.

Plus, FL seems pretty confident on you and I feel pretty confident he’s town because both Koba and Pine have townlocked him pretty much. I’m not opposed. What is your current read on Ico? I read 930 as a really obvious chainsaw on me and Akarin. Town!Ico should never have voted me here.
