You ask this question, and I think that given the context you would have realized that Skellen was saying that if you look at the content provided to that point from Rob and myself would be similar, so why does nk15 focus on me alone and not Rob as well?In post 85, Lil Uzi Vert wrote:Why is Rob scum?

You are like the vanilla froyo of mafia players. Maybe its the fact that I know you have been around long enough to have an alt to try a different meta, so I know you know things, but I dont know who you are to see how much weight I should give you.In post 186, Formerfish wrote:Sherlock
Ive been reading your iso over and over again. At some points I see a very town lean to it, and others I feel like things are a bit stale. You mention you are trying out a method of sorts. Maybe thats why im getting conflicting feelings about you. Ill look back at this again later.

So far this just feels like you are tring anyone who is active.

127 You have the PoE down to what 5 names? Why do you assume one of your townleans is wrong? Why cant the 3 scum be in the 5 you arent tring right now?

Fair ad hom might not be the correct word, I was trying to say that I felt like you were making an argument about a specific action you were exhibiting being indicative of a larger issue you see in the game right now. You werent attacking him per se, but you were discrediting the point by building a straw man argument. In post 193, Garmr wrote:what ad hom attack.

Why are you ignoring the fact that i was lva and it was still early in the game. Early enough that there was at least 1 other person who was posting as fluffy gems as I was, yet you focused on me, the guy on lva. Why?In post 196, Not Known 15 wrote:Specifically, town should not fluff and completely ignore anything else. You didn't only post fluff until there, you also didn't do anything else like commenting on posts and their scuminess(or towniness), or making first townread observations in general without presenting evidence.

So you think Garmr might not believe his position, but is pretending that he believes? In post 213, Skellen wrote:Regarding Garmr I thought his case against unwnd felt like grasping for straws/forced but in a manner like getting things started with a first case, which I might expect coming from town.

I don't normally make these type of posts but I'll have my own thoughts perhaps in long format coming up soon. You can take this comment however you want but it's been a minute since I've played here, and while some things have changed the more they stay the same. The slow pace and extended deadline (I adjusted to like 48/24) is actually much more of my tempo so having the ability to pace myself is a huge boon.Stop- Formerfish

Strawman
an intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent's real argument.
The post I was replying to. It wasn't even a point just the fact he was complaining about mafia scum players being eccentric. In post 50, unwnd wrote:Normal people scenario
PAUL - Hey man what's up how's the weather
JOE - Not that bad you know a little cloudy how are you man?
PAUL - I'm great thanks for asking
Mafiascum scenario
JOE - Hey man what's up how's the weather
MAFIASCUM PLAYER - Did you just ask me what the weather was? It seems that you are trying to paint me in a bad way as you are assuming I don't already know. The fact you came up to me asking how the weather is, unprovoked, is quite scummy. I'm going to have to vote you
1. The answer killed the back and forth we were having with out addressing the issues I had and felt like a cop out. Now I want you to answer me how is it a strawman.
2.It was going no where and unwnd agreed with me.
So this isn't a strawman as well.In post 88, unwnd wrote:I assure you that wasn't the angle and it was just me taking the piss out of a confusing situation. You're right this goes nowhere, and honestly your capability to understand that makes me feel like you're probably fine
To me it looks like you are throwing out buzzwords like ad hom, strawman ect but when pushed on it they fall apart easier than a tower made of jelly. While being 100% completely right. I'm just that good. -Garmr (Wasn't Right)- skitter30

I missed this post, which makes more sense with your reply now. I thought you were going after unwnd for the comment he made about your posts specifically by making it a more general argument. That's what I saw as the strawman, cause I felt like you were shifting what unwnd was saying to make it sound worse. The post above shows that unwnd was the one to make it a global thing. In post 49, unwnd wrote:Oh god I forgot everyone on mafiascum is tone deaf

I like to play town, it's less stressful. I think I can be both good and bad at either, it depends on a lot of things. Generally if I'm town people figure it out quickly enough, or they don't.In post 246, skitter30 wrote:formerfish, do u like town or scum better?
