I feel the setup was town sided but I guess the reviewers disagreed.
I don't like putting doctors along side other strong power roles in small games, it makes the night game too difficult for mafia.

I agree that the setup is town-sided, but that’s only in hindsight. Doesn’t help that vig and doc both played perfect night actions

Eh you had me dead to rights. I'm still rusty, wrote a post for optics underestimating how it'd be received (although I'd likely have similar levels of uncertainty in my reads as town at that point). Activity levels in the game were really frustrating, though.

It did feel a little powerful on the town side, but night 1 went basically the worst scenario possible for mafia. If I'd made either of the other two kills I'd considered, it would have been at least a little better. I just wasn't thinking to PR hunt. Compulsive vig could have been a problem for town had things played out differently. Normal setups overall seem more townsided than when I last played.

Balancing micros is incredibly hard because swing goes up when a game only has 2-3 night phases.
So the small oversight on balance combined with good actions resulted in this

2 powerful roles with no other roles to me is mini balance to me. Scum had full info day 2 and couldn't interact, but with a roleblocker from the start I think the game is scum favored since their is only 5 people to choose from for 2 power roles (assuming a day 1 mislynch)
Given the other roles in a mini would be filler like neighbors or other things that do nothing.

Tough to balance can't say I'd do better.

I think that the compulsive modifier on the vig makes it much better in terms of balance. I feel like this setup depends a lot on the n1 vig shot because of that, since he can’t abstain

Thanks Mod, I thought it was an enjoyable game - nice and quick and enough to keep me entertained! agree with comments it feels a bit town-favoured (in most cases it should play fine, but it only takes a couple good town PR actions to massively hurt scum). compulsive vig with so few players makes it super swingy. After everyone claimed, I couldn't quite believe it, because we'd basically busted it open on Day 2.

Really pleased to win the game after how Day 1 went - no regrets.
