Mini 247 - Zodiac Mafia - GAME OVER!

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Tue Nov 01, 2005 10:24 am

Post by Nox »

Welcome to Zodiac Town...

All used to be friendly and peacefull in the evening sky, where all the constellations of the Zodiac shone evenly. However, with time, things changed. Some signs decided that they ought to be superior to others, and thus a disblance occurred. It was'nt all so bad, until one day Libra, the town mayor that maintained justice, was brutally murdered in his home. Now only chaos reigns in Zodiac town, as its occupants desperatly try to find and eliminate the culprits behind Libra's murder.

Rules, stolen from MeMe :lol: :P :) :o

-Votes must be in bold. If you do not bold your vote, it will not be counted.

-Please be attentive and unvote before casting a new vote.

-Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, his pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. You may vote: no lynch – majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.

-The game is not to be discussed outside of the thread unless your role specifically states that you may do so.

-Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing.

-Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts

-Don’t quote any PMs from me.

-If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you – if you do not submit a choice to me, tough! No choice will be made.

-If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.

-Remember, it’s a game. It’s supposed to played. It’s supposed to be fun. Do your part.

Roles of the Faded Ones

Taurus – Blocking Following Pack Mule– Pro-Town

Admit it, you’re as stubborn as a mule… A pack mule. You are an obstinate follower. By sending me the name of a fellow player, you can impose yourself on her/him by offering them to carry their things for them, thus giving them two choices:

a)They let you carry their things for them, and you get an insight on their night action.

b)They decide to hold off the night action, and spend the night watching Boondock Saints with you instead, resulting in a role block.

If they do not perform a night action, you will receive the notice that they have nothing to carry.

You win with the town.

-----

Sagittarius – Shakespearian Sage - Pro-town

You wise old sage. Well, yes, somewhat wise. In what interests you. Shakespeare is your Bible, and you use it to retrieve useful information- if you can decipher it.

Each night you may send me the name of a person of which you wish to "investigate". You will receive a Shakespeare quote relating to that person. It may relate to the person's role name, Sign, or night time activity, randomly.

But thats not all. You can also choose to transmit this information, as you are after all a Sage.

After you receive your quote, you may choose to share your information with a certain role.

They will not have any information on who sent it.

You win with the town.

Because it is what it was stated in my Role.

I may not quote, but I can at least say that I'm the virgo, which is supposed to be the most "pure" zodiac.

Is anybody up for some role speculation?
Scummy as it may sound, it could be of use to us.

Libra is dead.
Virgo = innocent

The twins must be masons or we'd not have 12 players.
Cancer/Scorpio/Taurus = killers of some sort? Perhaps Leo along with them? He could be blocker/strong townie.
Aquarius = healer (water)
Sagi can also be killer.
Aries = blocker??townie??
Capricorn = copricorn?

For what it's worth, this were the lines along which I was thinking when I was contemplating a zodiac mafia.

Hm, strange game already. Starting with a day instead of night, a mod-confirmed innocent... Anyway, I think it's probably a bit early to speculate on the alignment of certain roles. Most likely we all are Zodiac signs, but who knows which ones are bad or good. And yeah, Phoebus is probably right about Gemini being twins, since Libra was never in the game. (Or else the mod made up a new Zodiac sign like Final Fantasy Tactics did. Hee.)

Hmmm...Confirmed innocent, that sounds like my role of "innocent child" in Open Role mafia.

With a confirmed innocent given to us by the mod day 1, and with a minor hint from my own role PM, i have reason to believe we may be dealing with a larger then normal mafia, so we've got to be careful.

Yosarain, my role stated that I was an innocent child, so it is possible that it is the very same role.

The larger than normal mafia is in line with Phoebus' theory.

I'm not especially bothered by Phoebus' speculation, even though, as he states, it's sometimes considered to be scummy. I think there are some reasonable suggestions there, but I doubt Nox would have simply made the more "kill-appropriate" signs scum or the game would be amenable to being broken by mass-claim. It might be more helpful to see what our Night One kill looks like (since Libra was simply "murdered") before we do too much speculating about which roles are which.

I'll put out a little more scum scent.
Given that we did begin on day, without throwing numbers at me, can someone explain why a no lynch would not be feasible? For I'm sure, the minute I suggest it, I'll have a pack of wolves baying for my blood.

Rather than bandwagon/claim, expose roles, wait for a mistake that might not happen, we could just start with a regular situation by no lynching and going to night. There's only so much speculation we can do about this setup...

No night one. No.
More the reason for no lynch. ;)

I wouldn't vote Fuldu yet but I see it's slightly interesting that he'd want to find out what a kill looks like but would rather go through the whole rigmarole of a information-less and therefore, potentially damaging day one.

Of course, now I'm sure to have numbers thrown at me. :(

(shrug) I think a lynch, even a semi-random one, is better for the town then a no lynch, for a few reasons.

1. It improves the ratio of town kills (which might kill scum) to scum kills (which won't), and so should help our odds

2. Lynches, voting patterns, and disussions on who to lynch tends to give the town good information to help us guide future lynches. A no-lynch today would just lose us an entire day of discussion about who is scummy and voting patterns showing who votes for who for no real gain that I can see.

Just an idea, but is anyone in favor of a mass claim? We have a list of role names already (assuming the mod isn't insane). I don't think it would be good now, but in a couple days once we get a handle on how the game is flowing it might help us piece things together.

FOS Phoebus
for suggesting no lynch. I have never seen a game situation outside of late game where no lynch has been a good action for the town.

But there will be a Night One, tonight. That's all I meant. And the point was that if, for example, the kill looks like a drowning, for example, then that would be likely to dispel Phoebus' notion of Aquarius as a doctor. I don't know whether we'll get information like that, but if we do, that will be a much more solid start to role speculation than anything we could do today.

If armlx is going to FOS Phoebus (but not vote at this early in the game, which I always find suspicious) for suggesting no lynch in practically the same breath as suggesting a mass claim, I'm quite happy to change my vote from the essentially random to the suspect.

unvote: Aureal; vote: armlx

Also, is Dranko's unregistered vote on me a game mechanism or a mistake?

Hmm, so you WILL finish people off? Sounds like;

1. You are scum, and just accidently revealed yourself.
2. You are townie, and trying to get lynched.
3. You are aggresive townie, and trying to get lynched.

Random vote: armlx
for being the only name I recognize from another game. :P

The starting in day and revealing of an innocent this early on by the mod seems pointing towards either the mafia having very powerful abilities or simply a large mafia. I'm inclined to believe the powerful ability idea, after all this is the Zodiac mafia. One would think that these constellations have more power than mortal scum. I think the same goes for protown roles, though.

I agree with Fuldu. That could be another reason the game started in day--the death scenes will probably be quite informative.
