I think the game was designed well enough from the roles I see, and I appreciate the claim candy.

This would have been more of a "game" if D1 didn't open and close with that gambit. Game swung way too hard to town after. (side note: while as town I don't think I would have ever voted Morph after the results of D1, I don't think that gambit should ever be employed again.)
I'll give you a moment to let that sink in

Do you mind if I ask why you think that?
I'm pretty curious as well.

Scum had claimable stuff of gladiator, rolecop, reporter

Town had a few "don't lynch" roles
favor JOAT (watcher, cop, tracker, neighborizer, mailmain)
gunsmith

and a bunch of lynchable roles
nightkill predicting vig
delayer
vote freezer
doublevoter
self-watching weakener
partial motion sensor
village idiot (practically made for a policy lynch/vig)
dead neighborizer

Only two roles were blatantly "never lynch this" and most of the other roles were reasonably in line wiht the type of claimable powers that scum had.

Really not seeing how it's broken by day 1 massclaim, sorry. If you want a blatantly breakable by day 1 mass claim example, I could direct you to Kingdom Hearts? ;)

I agree, actually. It took years off my life and I'm still mourning the smoking wreckage that is my meta.

I fully admit the gambit is something I'd only have done on about half this player list. Mostly because I don't think the response would have been alignment indicative for a lot fo players here.

Sidekick and bullet-to-poison transmutator, please. I wouldn't expect scum to claim rolecop with a roleblock add-on.

Rolecop is probably claimable in a setup like this. Obviously the roleblocker expansion much less so

But yeah probably the sidekick one is the better claim.

To expand, the clearly claimable thing was the HERE'S BOB!!!! (everyone's least liked Shadow hunter's role) bandaid function.

I agree that this game wasn't breakable by mass claim alone however.

scum had built in claimable roles they could have used, it's why no fake claims were deemed necessary

thanks btw. I was super excited to see some of the roles payoff and I am sad they didn't. The Cthulu role was my biggest disappointment to not see used.

We loved our role, in much the way we loved the post-restriction-giver in the first boardgame upick. It became clear by day 2 that we probably weren't going to be able to use the role, but we enjoyed it anyway in a "lol we're the likeliest nk but wheee" manner.

It would have been mortifying to get lynched in late game due to never getting our ability to fire, but it was going to be even more mortifying to be lynched for gambiting AFTER we admitted we had gambited on day 2.
Amid the pressure of great events, a general principle gives no help.

Hey dan, you remember that one post in the dance game where it gave me an unshakable townread on you and I stepped out?

Your one post I kept coming back to this game was similar but in the opposite alignment-direction.

Well played. I would have loved to see this game go to LYLO just to see the setup play out completely. Thanks to our awesome mods.

Given my day one fakeclaim, if you'd gladiated us i am almost positive we would have rolled over and died and called you damn near confirmed town. Or was it not usable day one?

Yeah :~(

You did your best with what you were given. It's unfortunate that night one no actions went through.

Just gladiator, probably not. However gladiator with a prize fits right in with the flavor. If you're doubting gladiator would be seen as town, the first board game mafia had a gladiator that was town.

Actually, had we been gladiated day one, Raskbells would have endgamed. Pretty sure.

I've already said I don't approve of the Gambit (see dead thread), but to each their own. However I would also like to add that I'm shocked so many people believed that penguin and myself and our 3 reviewers allowed a day cop like that.

I do wish the game had played out a bit more, but I really like the care and thought that was put into making all the roles. I really really enjoyed my role.
