There has been talk about this challenge, but we should discuss overall game mechanics as well.
My usual opinion is that special mechanics provide scum an easy way to appear active and helpful. I've done this myself as scum, I think I was good at it too. But in this game those special mechanics play a much larger role, and that means scumhunting will be very different.
One thing that occurred to me is that fortunate players are likely to be vital to winning this. Not because of their abilities, which only come into play in tiebreaker situations, which is pretty weak. What is important is that, as far as I understand,
only town unfortunates can become fortunate
. This makes uncontested fortunates confirmed town. We will want to keep them hidden of course as long as possible.
Another thing to consider is that we may end up with multiple fortunates, and scum may try to false claim being fortunate. We however have one powerful weapon against that - the last will. Note that while we can have multiple fortunates, we can only get one every floor. This means it is vitally important to know on which floor each fortunate became fortunate, so I'm bolding this.
If you become fortunate,
always
mention in your last will on which floor you became fortunate.
The logic should be pretty obvious, but I will explain just in case. Suppose we complete three challenges and get three fortunates, but one of them dies. Three people claim to be fortunate. We would know one of them must be lying, but who? Now suppose they claim the days when they became fortunate, and none of them counterclaim each other. The last to claim would be most suspect, but we still could not know for sure. Only if we know on which floor the dead fortunate became fortunate will we be able to confirm one of the claimants and force scum into a one on one counterclaim.
