If you use Tasha's Hideous Laughter at night it will apply for the next phase.
Sleep is effective for 48 hours of dayphase from time of usage.

It takes one full cycle after use to be a viable action again. You can gift next during N3.

Barring my self-tailor ability, would investigative results from something that checked for a specific item be able to be changed by someone gaining any type of ability (like someone who looks for books checking someone who received a spell book later)?

Once unlocked, if checked again, it would test positively.

Generally nothing alignment revealing. It is up to my sensibilities if I think a question is allowed. You're asking the DM essentially.

It is not considered as targeting a player as it is directed to me not to them.
