butterchurn brought it up in relation to parity cop, I argued that it was a bad comparison and it didn't work anyway.

And then people bring up the words vanilla cop randomly dozens of pages later when we're talking about parity cop

I don't care what you think vanilla cop does. You're wrong, objectively. It does what it says it does. If it does something different, that's because the mod decided it should work differently this game. Which he could have. Or more likely the role isn't even in the game and it doesn't matter

Part of me feels like a players that's been here 6 years should know better and that he's being intentionally dense when arguing that a wolf goon shows as non-vanilla but then I think it's possible that he's just so like...laser-focused on "the wiki says this." that common sense doesn't apply.

I'm not really concerned about his role.

What's suspicious to me is that he did shit all till he got ran up and all his scum reads are the players pushing him. Maybe he's scum, maybe he's not. There's still alot of game left to play so we'll see where things go.

I decided to actually ask the mod and I got an sorta ambiguous answer but I can say it’s possible for werewolf goon to appear vanilla to vanilla cop. Basically there’s a chance for “vanilla cop” and “vanilla seer” to be distinct roles, which I would guess each check whether a player has a role relating to the mafia or the werewolf side of the game. So I would expect goons to never appear different to those role but a Miller-type or Godfather-type probably would.

I think in future I will probably put forth that for normal games Vanilla Finder should be used rather than Vanilla Cop, and Vanilla Cop will instead work for the mafia flavor variants exclusively (and as such should be not-normal)
