Trial by Combat

Firebringer, Lord Paramount of the Reach, Master of Coin, The Goldspinner was keen to regain his honor. After being thoroughly embarrassed by Unowen during the last duel, he knew he had to pick someone easier to fight. Carefully studying the collected group - he settled on FG Tarly, one of his lord vassals who ruled over Horned Hill. Firebringer knew that his lord vassal would not embarrass him in front of the collected company and there would be little fear of death since the two were childhood acquaintances.

After a series of negotiations between the two men - it was decided that they would engage in a game of tic tac toe - with the loser being exiled back to the Reach in disgrace.

For five hours the men battled back and forth - upwards and downwards - no matter how they flipped the board between them, neither could score a win. After the seven hundredth game ended in a draw, it was decided to call an end to the contest as everyone was already bored out of their minds.

Baltar fumed at the memory of being humiliated by that stupid clown - stumbling around like a blind man as the tomato juice ran all over his face. Smelling like a pizza for weeks afterwards.

The thought of him being made to look like a fool by that bumbling halfwit boiled his blood - a reputation as a stone cold killer that had taken years to cultivate completely shattered. Where people used to tread gingerly around him in fear and anticipation - now everyone just snickered and laughed - he could hear them whispering tomato man behind his back. There was only one way to make things right - he had to make an example out of that stupid clown.

This time Baltar stepped into the arena wearing no armor, dressed in just a loincloth - all of his impressive muscles on display. His chiseled chest and bulging biceps seemed out of a cartoon - shining with a golden bronze tan beneath the hot midday sun. Powerful legs shaped like tree trunks rose from the ground and ended in an ass worthy of a Roman bust. Broad powerful shoulder scarred with cuts from long ago gave him a commanding presence - for a moment the crowd quieted to a hush as they oohed and aahed at this impressive specimen of a man. He lifted his longsword towards the King in a salute and then faced his opponent.

"So when I make you into a pizza this time I guess you want to be naked style huh?"

Baltar ran like a bull toward the clown in the distance - moving with impossible speed and fluidity for a man of his size.

Drapion stood there waiting and laughing, as Baltar closed to almost within striking distance the clown threw a dagger directly at his face. The blade missed by a few centimeters and wound up firmly lodged in Baltar's throat; he collapsed on the ground choking on his own blood. The crowd gasped audibly as they watched the dying man on the ground fighting for his life. In a few minutes it was all over.

ya know i love it when we have a mechanic that lets us have two scummy people duel each other and then we have a very townie person duel a scummy one and the townie person flips town and everyone's like surprise pikachu face, i love that

the conversation between roden and baltar on page 169 greatly confuses me - roden, can you clarify what you were getting at there?

When I read this guys town game he usually does questioning to get solving out of it and shares his concern.

i think it had passed about 9 minutes between when i posted his games to when you said you'd read them and concluded thoughts about it. i kind of highly doubt you read 6 games up to any sort of quality in that timeframe
