Echo.

Game was pretty good, and I think the setup was probably close to fine--it was wildly swingy depending on role usage in my opinion, but because this game was borderline-role-madness, it may have favored the town too much in my opinion. If so, probably not by too terribly much, but suffice to say this game certainly isn't scumsided to say the least.

tl;dr: UNDENIABLY swingy, but close to the balance mark--if off of it, townsided by a bit but not so much that it'll make mhsmith go on another tirade. :P (That's probably a good benchmark for town balance, too. :P)

(Still kinda hard for me to accept it being this filled with PRs though, and I imagine the scum had much the same gripe. They had some decent powers, but they were cornered hard and I can definitely understand them feeling cheated, here. It's just that personally I felt the game was swingy yet mostly balanced, it's just that the swing went HARD against them.)

I think the scum team composition was probably their biggest challenge. One lynch could unravel them, so they had to defend pretty hard against that.

Btw you were far from the first to say it. I may have said something to this effect but I know for a fact Ginngie said it pretty much from the getgo, butyeah. We kinda saw it coming because the Princeton crew really is an all-or-nothing deal.

It applies to recruiting them as a scumteam, and it also applies to their play: if one goes down, they all go down; if none of them go down, they win. So they had to go all-in since if they bussed, they'd lose here guaranteed and their only chance was defending one another. A disadvantage to making the obvious picks as scum is...

...That they are the obvious picks, and you really need to be in the top of your form in order to pull that off. Players tend to wifom things and discard the possibility of picking the obvious, so it's easy to get away with picking the obvious for that reason...but in order to not reveal to the town that the obvious was picked, you need to be playing well enough that the obvious-picks-scumteam isn't widely apparent, and while I felt Ellibereth was up to par and chesspig4 had their moments especially earlier in the game, the team's most crucial member to not go down was also the member who was easiest to spot, and later in the game attempting to avert the fall was too little, too late.

This town was a pleasure to work with for the most part, btw. Highly competent players with a high level of synergy with a high degree of ability to gamesolve. We had that rocky start, but as the puzzle pieces began to fall into place, we got going, so I don't think this win was given to us; it still had to be earned.

The Good Ship Misfit neighborhood was an abomination that was never meant to be. I misunderstood something in our discussion of the game setup, and thought that we had added that neighborhood. So, I scrambled at the last minute as I was sending out role PMs to tweezer in the neighborhood. Cabd caught the error almost immediately, but it was too late, the neighborhood existed and was already being posted in. The Mod PT contains both versions of the role PMs for the three players involved.

Setup Specific Rules (These are important!)

This game has a special role distribution mechanic. Once all 14 players have joined the game and the thread has been created, a 48 hour period will begin where one player will be chosen as the scum leader; and will get to CHOOSE their two teammates from the remaining 13 slots. Once that is complete; the rest of the game will be seeded and the game will begin in earnest.

There may or may not be a 3rd Party in the game as well.

Knowledge of the flavor may be helpful but is not required to enjoy or play the game. The entire web novel can be read here free of charge: http://hfy-archive.org/book/deathworlders

This game will cover materials from chapters 1 through 21 of the book, and may include characters and concepts from the side novels taking place at the same time (0-4 years AV).

Tales of You. *shudders*
Tales of Vesperia,
Tales of the Abyss.

We do plan to design more games in the 2013-2014 tradition, so stay tuned.

Homage to the aesthetics of our favorite mods of that era.

The mechanic was pretty cool! We probably will use it (or something like it) again sometime.
