The conditional modifier is similar to a cause and effect scenario. If X happens, then Y will occur.

An example would be if I happened to be the hammer vote on a wagon, then I could steal the lynch victim's role, but

only if

I was the hammer voter.

Exactly, im expecting scum to not claim toxic goo. The scumclaim part of my initial post is exactly that, if later on someone get poisoned we know the target is a dirty mefia you didnt out early game. And scum claiming toxic good early on is a non-issue, its not like mefia are only found via investigative power

Another thing, maybe town members could be poisoned in a single night versus only 1 mefia member (its very rare to have 2 abilites targetting the same person from mefia). It could be more devastating than "fun"
