1) They're most likely town, therefore I don't have to actually play.

Possible reasons town could want to not be desperado'd:
They have a role which makes them confirmed, a la Friendly Neighbor.
They have a role which makes them a likely Nightkill, a la bodyguard.
They are likely to eat a nightkill based on proficiency, a la NSG.
They have a strong scum read they would rather see dead.
They have a role that is significantly stronger if they don't get killed early, a la cop.
They are hinting heavily that they have a role that is significantly stronger if they don't get killed early in the hopes that they get killed early by scum who have picked up on it.
etc.
Also, I don't want to be desperado'd.This is a Parachute.
