Fate/Grand Order: Mafia in the Lostbelt - The Second


As reviewed by fferyllt, syryana, and Penguin_Alien.

This setup is a semi-Upick for 14 anonymous players and will feature 4 mafia- and 10 town-aligned players. Please read the additional details of the setup below.


Setup generation

There are 14 classes in Fate Grand Order. Each player will be assigned a random class from the list:

Once the game has filled and everyone has been assigned a class, players will receive a PM with a list of every possible character from their class that they may choose from. Some are historic figures, some are from mythology, some are from religions of the world, and some are unique to the game. Selecting your character will earn you access to your Anon account, where all further correspondence will occur. Players will have 48 hours to choose. If you wish to have a randomized pick, or if you fail to respond, one will be drawn at random for you.

Once 48 hours have passed from the end of the pick phase, the final setup will be completed. Alignment is randomly assigned BEFORE players have selected their servant but will be revealed to players upon receipt of their role PM. Once we have a at least 11 confirmations, the Master Selection Phase will begin.



General Rules

1. We don’t tolerate ad hom wars. If your posting is merely insulting a player without providing game content, you can expect a strike from us. Three strikes, you’re out. We are fairly lenient about this, but posting “Fuck you” over and over again is simply not acceptable. Severe issues will be reported to the list mod(s).
2. If we say it violates these rules, it does. You can take it up with us postgame if you wish.
3. Play towards your win condition. Gambits are fine, directly harming your own team is not.
4. Once an elimination is reached, you may continue discussion until we lock the thread. No votes or unvotes will count after an elimination has been achieved.
5. An elimination is achieved as a majority of players voting for somebody. Half is not a majority.
6. Do not quote or pretend to quote any information you get from us via PM. This includes posting your role card verbatim. Paraphrasing is fine, as are role claims naturally.
7. Do not talk about this game anywhere else, or with anyone else.
8. Do not discuss ongoing games in this thread. This includes games on sites other than mafiascum. This also includes using [redacted] as that loophole does not fly here.
9. We are usually rather lenient upon activity. This game is an exception. Post every 48 hours. Failure to do so will earn you a prod. Respond to your prod within 24 hours, or face replacement. Three prods is also a force replacement.
10. Claiming scum by yourself is fine. Claiming scum with another player is an instant modkill. Don't do it.
11. We do not require unvotes. Your vote will be counted so long as you bold it or use the vote tag. Shorthand names are fine so long as it’s clear who the vote is for.
12. If you have a question, please PM us. If a question is something that should be answered publicly, we will make a post addressing it without naming who asked it.
13. If our vote count is wrong, you can PM us or post in the thread (use the bold tag and "@MOD") about it.
14. We do not fix tags or edit posts where you might make a formatting mistake, even if you ask us to.
15. We reserve the right to add to these rules or modify them, but only when we post notifying all players in the game of the change.
16. Loophole abuse is all fun and games until we modkill you. Don’t try it.
17. Blue
(This color at #0000FF)
is our color. You are welcome to use any other color of the rainbow.
18. Encryption, text hiding, and the like are silly. Don’t do it.
19. Do not use temporary information to convey messages. This includes your signature and your avatar, but is not limited to these things.
20. While putting your vote or unvote on its own line is helpful, it is not necessary and any attempts to game voting formatting will be dealt with as an attempt to cheat. If we think it was a vote, it was a vote.
21. A modkill will always punish the faction modkilled more as far as timing goes. All modkills will be done after consultation with the listmods. Modkills may or may not end the day. Modkilled players will be changed to a neutral survivor, meaning they lose the game instantly.
22. In the event of site downtime lasting more than 3 hours; time will be added to the deadline to compensate at a 1 to 1 ratio.
23. All factional decisions must be agreed upon by all living members of that faction.



Master Selection Phase

This phase lasts 7 days. All players will converse in the main thread and vote for a player to gain a Master. At the end of the phase, the servant with plurality gains a Master. (in the event of a tie, all "winning" slots will be randomly entered and one will be drawn) Having a Master confers benefits depending upon the alignment of the player:

If a town Master is selected, the town Master + servant is revealed as an innocent child and becomes unkillable by ANY means until day two has passed. The servant in that slot will additionally have their role modified to account for the additional support they now have. Day 1 will become an double-elimination day and last for 240 hours (10 days) instead of 168 hours (7 days). (The first elimination WILL reset the vote count)

If a scum Master is selected, that mafia member immediately flips and exits the main game thread. The three remaining members of mafia have their role PMs upgraded to much stronger versions of their existing abilities, while the flipped member of the mafia remains in the scum PT, allowed to advise and lead the team.

The game will then proceed into Day 1 as a single-elimination day.


Noble Phantasm (And Noble Phantasm Charge)

1) Each Servant has a different number of charges required to fully charge their Noble Phantasm Bar. This is three (***), four (****), or five (*****) dependent on class.
2) At the start of the game (Day One) every player's bar has zero charges. Before each day phase begins (and after all night actions are resolved), each player gains one charge. Any double-elimination phases, modkills, or transitions from Master Voting phase to Elimination Day Phase do not count as starts of day phases.
3) If a player starts the day phase with a fully charged Noble Phantasm Bar, they can activate their Noble Phantasm during that day phase if possible unless something occurs earlier in the game day to reduce their charge.
4) If a player starts a night phase with a fully charged Noble Phantasm Bar, they can activate their Noble Phantasm during that night phase if possible.
5) Charge bar level is private information and may be requested by a player for themselves at any time in the game by PMing the mod. Players will also be informed of their current NP charge at the start of each day and night phase as well as any changes to it that happen as a result of day actions immediately.
6) If a Noble Phantasm is sealed, it will not activate but will remain fully charged pending other effects.
7) Once a Noble Phantasm is activated, its charge bar will be reduced to zero.


Other Setup Specific Rules
1. Players, when flipped, will have the identity of all players that were playing as that slot revealed.
2. The deadline will always be set to end at 9PM CST of a given day.
3. Deadlines for all player phases (days) are set at 7 days. Enemy phases (night) are 48 hours. Replacements will add in an additional day, up to three days added per cycle.
4. Posting in a different thread as your alt OR posting as your main will cause a force-replacement.

5. A game phase is considered "exhausted" if a phase generated more than 3 new pages of posts multiplied by the number of living slots. At that point, the game will enter "wind down" phase. The page count of the current player phase will be provided at 9 P.M. CST each day, during the votecount.
6. During "wind down" each player is allowed a one post, and one additional post per vote on them at the time of the thread lock. (These counts will be mod-provided publicly)
7. Failure to comply with wind down rules will be met with loss of abilities, vote, or both. You REALLY don't want to do this.
8. As a part of being the change in the world I wish to see, the term for removal is generically "elimination" or "eliminated" If you wish to be more gruesome, please use "Burn" and "burned" as that is a mechanic in the game!


Additional Setup Notes

1. This game heavily focuses around the fact that your class is known, but your specific servant's identity is not. Be aware that just is true of most stories, knowing one's myth means knowing one's weaknesses. Be careful when claiming or revealing information about your role. This aspect is majorly MORE important in the second running of the setup.
2. This game may feature characters from various religions and mythologies. Please ensure such things will not offend you when signing up.

Fluffy Body -
Fou may become bulletproof on any night, however this will prevent any other actions, factional or otherwise, from being taken by Fou.

FouFou~ -
Once per game, at night, Fou may select a target. Fou will get a one-way neighborhood with that player, unable to reply but able to see everything said.

Memories of Merlin -
Having spent quite a long time unable to do anything in the gardens of Babylon, you're ready to get a move on. As such, you MUST submit at least one action on any given night phase.


Noble Phantasm:

Primal Murder (******) -
Select one player. That player will be killed, regardless of ANY other effect in the game that could possibly prevent this.
With a Master: You gain three charges per night instead of one.

Alignment: Town
Win Condition: All non-town aligned players have been removed from the game, or nothing can prevent this from happening.

(2-shot) At night, you may target a player. Their actions become unblock-able for that night phase.

(2-shot) At night, you may select a player. You will investigate this player's Attribute.

Tsundere -
Active actions used on male characters will refund the shot. This effect cannot trigger on the same player more than once per game.


Noble Phantasm:

Jeweled Sword Zelretch - Mana of Infinite Universes (*****) -
(Day-Activated) Select one player. That player's Noble Phantasm bar will be immediately filled.
With a Master: You may use Jeweled Sword Zeltretch immediately upon gaining a master.


Alignment: Mafia
Win Condition: Mafia makes up at least half of the remaining players, or nothing can prevent this.

Quick update here.

One of the player who had signed up ended up having to out. As the role PMs were not out yet, I went ahead and let the replacement pick instead of making them stick with the prior choice.

This delayed ever so slightly game design, but I assure you we'll get it out and role PMs to folks as soon as possible.

New Setup Knowledge


The master upgrade conditions for this run of the game are now public.

Chosen Town Master
You are completely unkillable by any means until the start of night two. Immediately gain ***** (You cannot exceed your NP's max charge). Immediately target two players, they will gain *. Town will have two eliminations on day one. The deadline will NOT reset after the first elimination.


Chosen Scum Master
You will immediately treestump, allowed to remain in the mafia PT but not the game thread. All mafia players will immediately gain ***** (You cannot exceed your NP's max charge). For the rest of the game, all mafia players will gain one additional * at daystart.

Nero Claudius smoothed her dressed for the third time of the morning, wrinkles long gone but nerves still humming. The Colosseum buzzed with the overlapping voices of Servants waiting for the Games to start. A microphone stood in her box, ready for her to kick off this new iteration of NeroFest, the one to successfully round out her trilogy! Sure, there had been some...interruptions...since her second event, but she'd checked. Gilgamesh had been busy with some schemes against Enkidu, Ishtar was having a series of bad hair days taking up her attention, and Scáthach was trying to corral her former students into a questing band once again with limited success in the face of Fionn's overweaning ego-driven tales. All were too preoccupied to crash her event another time. This would be a success! NeroFest III!

Stepping up the microphone, she cleared her throat. With a deep breath, she began her operatic welcome: "Valiant Servants, I welcome you to the third, yes, the third! NeroFes..."

BOOM.

The gates to the arena below crash inward. A fur-wearing whirlwind stormed across the dusty sands. "WE WANT GOLDEN APPLES!"

Atalanta had burst onto the scene. Surveying the arena, her eyes landed on Nero, sputtering into the microphone. "This Festival needs true athleticism, valiant Heroic Spirits, and noble ideals! Children need good role models." Vaulting up to Nero's box, Atalanta stands on the railing, gaze raking over Nero's dress. "Step aside. I will find true champions and give everyone the show they deserve!"

Atalanta Berserker, for this was definitely not the thoughtful green-clad woman of the Archer class, shoved Nero to the back of the box with her right hand even as her left hand gestured toward the arena below. Golden apples materialized, bouncing to the ground haphazardly. "Fourteen Golden Apples. Whoever of you claims them first shall compete in my Festival: AtalantaFest! Prove yourselves!"

The stands erupted to overwhelm Nero's squawks of dismay. Servants pushed, jumped, and brawled to claim the tokens. With the rising dust, it became hard to see who was winning. Alliances formed and melted in the battle, some sticking and some dissolving in moments. Four hazy figures in particular seemed to band together to fend off others. But soon enough, Atalanta clapped her hands and the dust dropped all at once to reveal fourteen Servants fortuitously representing fourteen Classes clutching Golden Apples. The remaining Servants, grumbling, returned to the stands.

Smiling at the fourteen Servants below, Atalanta Berserker continued, "You have earned the right to compete. I can already tell some of you are here to compete with honor, and some will sacrifice anything INCLUDING YOUR CHILDREN!" She stopped, inhaled slowly, and continued. "Will sacrifice anything to claim the power of the prize Grail for your own nefarious purposes. I will provide one of you with the power of a Master to guide you in this competition." She snapped her fingers, and a dazed looking young man with a shock of dark hair popped into existence next to her.

"...this isn't Chaldea, or the Wandering Sea! Not another Singularity...wake up, wake up, wake up..."

She continued over him. "Eliminate the unworthy, and those who prove themselves may earn a share of this Grail and the incredible magic it contains. Beware those who would stoop to foul trickery to win. (I know nothing of such tactics) You are individuals, but you are united in your desire for glory and honor."

The fourteen Servants glanced at one another. AtalantaFest would clearly be more complicated than past events.

Nero pushed her way back up to the microphone. "I demand you stand down! These are my games!"

Atalanta Berserker rolled her eyes. "Oh, sit down. If you don't bother me too much, I might let you sing the official AtalantaFest awards ceremony song at the end of all this."

Nero sat down with a thump.

Anyone who has not done so already should go read Cabds comments from the first game on the preliminary master vote. The short version is decide on a charismatic player to receive it, and let them either lead town or get taken out entirely if scum.

I guess I can answer first

I don't particularly like being town leader, and I also don't think that the extra charges for my noble phantasm will be all that beneficial for me, and would likely serve better on other players. While I am not strictly against it, I am not really gunning for it either.

Currently looking for someone to come ObvTown for me, so I can vote them lol

I’d argue that if your only qualifications come from a mechanical sense it is not a good idea to make you town leader.
