Honestly, the only games anyone should count as success or failure versus me is a varsoon game, because I definitely don't get as invested in other games.

Whatever the chains placed upon me
Whatever the prison, my soul has the key
No money can buy, no power can still
No burden can break the unshakeable strength of my will

I'll beat you.
But I wanna win with you Yume.
In my perfect world, all the people who I don't know that well will be scum, and all the people I've played with a bunch will be town with me, so we can all win together.

In my perfect world, you would've been a Crystal Gem with me, but we can't always get what we want.
Besides, I wanna see how things would play out if we are scum against you.

"Sibling," Farkran asked, starting slowly.
"The CORE is full of lasers, and Chemist1422's entire existence depends on her eye. If she looks into a laser, she will almost certainly die. Did you think about that?"
"Oh yes, my brother. I love thinking about that."

So, the interesting thing about Bismuth is you can't really blame her for the course she took. If you're looking at things in a machiavellian/focused on greater good fashion, it really just makes sense to sacrifice even your friends if it's going to SECURE safety for your people. Completely neutralize the threat.
Still not a very nice thing to do, but it makes sense. :-/
If she actually succeeded in shattering Steven, she would have gone after Peridot and Lapis, on the grounds of them being some sort of spies. Now how would that make you feel?

....Yeah, that's what I thought
The second time around, with Steven, circumstances were different. She effectively had PTSD from the war. The first time...her desired course makes some degree of sense for the reasons I gave above.
