Here's a little taste of the flavor.

She crept out of bed, on all fours, drawn by the murmurs in the night. She gently pushed open the door, quiet as a mouse, and peeked into the adjoining room from its mezzanine. The living room had been turned into a war room. Flanked by Lord Stark and Ser Davos, Father stared into the fireplace as he spoke in a virulent tone.

“We’re powerless, Stark. One wrong move and we're finished.”

“Who would want to start a war with-?”

“It could be any one of them”, Father cut the Onion Knight off, “she’s seen their conspiracies in the flames”, he said as he tilted his head towards the priestess, who sat on the edge of the room, near the balcony.

The men all turned to Melissandre, who stood up and spoke in a clear voice.

“You know that Doran Martell wants revenge for his slain family, but it goes far deeper. He wants reform. Girls to rule their Houses ahead of their younger brothers. The Lannisters getting weaker benefits Doran’s master plan. He embedded his brother Oberyn’s old mercenary company with the Lannister army to cripple Tywin’s son, and blame it on Robb Stark. Why else did you think the Brave Companions defected to your House when news came that he captured Jaime Lannister? Besides driving a wedge between the two greatest Lords of the Seven Kingdoms, the Brave Companions serve a secondary purpose. They have been raiding septs across the land, igniting a cry for divine intervention. They mean to push the homeless septons and their flocks directly into the arms of Doran, who has made common cause with the so-called sparrows; broken men clinging to their seven false gods. Together, they mean to depose the High Septon. Once in charge, they will reform the Faith Militant and confirm the legitimacy of House Martell from the Sept of Baelor. But that plan is still far off.”

Father turned back to the fireplace and frowned. While Lords Stark and Ser Davos gave each other uneasy looks, Melissandre made eye contact with Shireen for a second and winked.

“He won’t get away with this”, said Lord Stark, “Robb is still in the field and can contain the sparrows, while we secure the High Septon in the capital.”

“It would be wiser to offer them all to the fire," said Melissandre, "but you have more pressing concerns."

"Littlefinger borrowed such vast sums from the Lannisters and the Bank of Braavos," interjected Stannis, "that he knew Robert wouldn’t have the coin to raise his banners against the Lannisters. When Jon Arryn and I learned of Cersei’s incestuous infidelity, Littlefinger had him poisoned. I was going to call my banners in Dragonstone, but Melissandre advised me to return to King’s Landing with a fraction of my forces, and bid me to save you instead."

“Which I’m grateful for, Stannis. But remember that it is I who supported your claim, when Littlefinger offered me the regency, and your own brother defected to the Tyrells.”

“You did your duty, nothing more. Littlefinger hired a Faceless Man to kill you the moment you stepped out of your first Small Council meeting. He never intended to let you rule. Even after your arrest, he planted the assassin inside the dark cells, so he could kill you en route to The Wall, if his plan to have Joffrey behead you failed. As it did. The Faceless Man has now escaped from the Night’s Watch, but the contract is still active.”

“How could he afford a Faceless Man?”, asked Davos.

“He’s been siphoning gold from the treasury for years, paying non-existent gaolers, bloating the city guard and collecting kickbacks, funding his network of spies and bribes.”

“So is he conspiring with Doran?"

“Shireen!”

It was Mother, roused from her slumber by the ruckus.

“Go back to bed, child. You need to be on your best behavior, for tomorrow, your Father will be crowned King.”
