That seems like something that should be fixed, since the LN queue is so much shorter? Or are they queued on the basis of how-soon-will-it-run?

The Large Queues (both Normal and Theme) do individual game signup threads, unlike Mini/Micro.

At the top of the page click the "Queue" link and scan to see if any Larges are accepting signups right now.
