The pace of the game will dictate that to some extent. As long as you post every day, you're not going to be hurting the game. Generally the more you can post (as long as you aren't just posting filler), the better experience you and others will have. Your goal should be to get your thoughts (or faux thoughts if you are scum) into the game about anything notable that arises.

It's totally okay to experiment and play with it though. Don't worry and just have fun with it!

You typically need to read and maybe respond to everything that's happened since last time you posted. If you're playing purely reactively, I typically find that's about half an hour per day on average (i.e. if you don't post one day, you might need to spend an hour the next day). Thinking deeply about the game to prepare cases and the like can take much longer, sometimes hours, but there isn't a requirement to do that at all and especially not every day; do it when you have the time and motivation.

I recommend considering observing a game before joining one depending on your familiarity to get a feel and understanding for it. (or just jumping in works better for some ppl, it depends)

Brand new newbie, but games look fun. I've only played one, small game that turns out was varied massively from normal games. Enjoyed it though, so hopefully this will be fun.
