It's real easy you just turn on the machine, place one pad over the heart, the other on the ribs. There should be a diagram. Then press the button, most AEDs are automatic anyway and will guide you by voice. It will tell you to stop doing chest compressions if you're doing them and to step back. The AED will check the heart rhythm and if it's in a-fib it'll advise you that it's administering a shock. Do not be touching the patient at this time. If it doesn't detect a heartbeat then resume CPR. Every minute or so the AED will ask you to step back so it can check the heart rate again. Continue following it's instructions and administering CPR until emergency medical services arrive. Once CPR starts dont stop until the ambulance crew is in the room to take over. Which I mean, you should have called them before you grabbed the AED.
