presenting all these problems and going "this should totally be done" isn't really helping or proposing a solution
i think signaling demand for these sort of features
does
do some good
there's a lot I'm more likely to work on for instance thanks to seeing interest in it from the community
but i wish there was some organized record of things people wanted coded and how much/how many want it;
it's still too hard to tell just what the community wants to see besides the big / especially difficult stuff

enable more games to be open for sign-ups at a time, and when there are more than these number of games ready to run, enforce differentiation of setup/theme across setups up currently in sign-ups, determining which of 2+ similar setups are allowed in signups first randomly

maybe even encourage game moderators to specify when signing up to mod what makes their game distinctive from a normal. use that to guide differentiation as well as to help players choose which games to sign up to.

i feel like the roles thing would be finished faster if it were more open
once the role pm templates are done, making a generator based on them is trivial
omerta should be a public subforum imo

Like, putting stuff out there before it's perfect - I understand the psychological tension that keeps one from doing that, it defines my entire workflow most of the time. But not doing that is exactly the sort of thing that makes people ignorant of opportunities to help out, exactly the sort of thing that leads people to do redundant work instead of standing on each other's shoulders, exactly the sort of thing that makes contributing to the community an invisible and therefore thankless task that's hard to muster the motivation to do. It shouldn't take off-hand side questions in loosely related discussion threads to pull off some veil hiding the work being done to improve the site. No one is benefitted from that being the way things are gone about. It should be just as easy to see and participate in that stuff as it is to see in participate in an MD thread.

open to hearing suggestions
pull back the curtain
make hidden forums for volunteer groups that don't need to be hidden public, near or within the administration forum category, and organize these hidden subforums so that people can pop in, see what's being done or needs to be done, help out, and leave without going through any elaborate ritual or explicit role designation except where one is absolutely necessary
shed the fear of letting scummers see works in progress
this makes the whole process of site contribution more fluid, and through its relative transparency/publicity it makes the work less thankless too

Even some sort of mod coming here and saying "we hear you, we are working on it" would be better than the absolute silence we've had. I don't think it's asking much to get that much.
UT made a pretty good response, IMO. I'm not sure what more you are looking for.
We hear what is being said, and we are discussing changes/improvements.
Why does this sort of discussion need to happen behind closed doors? Is sensitive information being exchanged? Zoraster’s account password accidentally slip out?

honestly have to suppose you probably haven’t really read the thread if you can pop in here of all places and say something like “I'm not sure what more you are looking for”
we aren’t exactly making it a mystery

there doesn't have to be a mod shortage; automated modding is not very far off codingwise
but if there's a player shortage, then there isn't a mod shortage
