Evolution Power Roles –– An Observation by Cook

Hi. I'll add more if I find 'em.

Many of the roles here can be seen as part of an evolutionary tree.

Ex:
Unevolved: Vanilla Townie
Basic: Visitor
Stage 1: Checker
Stage 2: Fruit Vendor
Stage 3: Friendly Neighbor
Stage 4: Innocent Child

But at the same time, if you side-evolved a Checker, you'd get:

Unevolved: Vanilla Townie
Basic: Visitor
Stage 1: Checker
SIDE Evolve Stage 2: Motion Detector
Stage 3: Tracker
Stage 4: Follower
Stage 5: Role Cop

It goes deeper, too. Sometimes roles are similar and evolutionary paths merge.

Unevolved: Vanilla Townie
Basic: Visitor
Stage 1: Nurse
Stage 2: Doctor
Stage 3: Rolestopper
Stage 4: Jailkeeper
Stage 5: Alien

Unevolved: Vanilla Townie
Basic: Visitor
Stage 1: Roleblocker
Stage 2: Jailkeeper
Stage 3: Alien

---

Other evolutionary trees:

Unevolved: Vanilla Townie
Basic: Informed
Stage 1: One-Shot Cop
Stage 2: Best Friend
Stage 3: Mason
Stage 4: Weak Masonizer
Stage 5: Loyal Masonizer

Unevolved: Vanilla Townie
Basic: Informed
Stage 1: Neighbor
Stage 2: Weak Neighborizer
Stage 3: Neighborizer
Stage 4: Loyal Neighborizer

I don't see one-shot cop fitting in the masonic evolution tree.

Vanilla - no power.
Informed - technically it depends but allow us to assume it's a Cop check result.
1shot Cop - assuming it MUST be reliable, this acts as half of a Best Friends - you know a player to be Town but not vice versa.
Best Friends - act as townies with cop checks on each other. They can confirm each other - more powerful than a 1s Cop.
Masons - Best Friends with communication. Strong.
Weak Masonizer - Mason with added benefit of recruitment that is conditionally a Sacrificial Cop.
Loyal Masonizer - Mason with recruitment that doubles as Cop check.

Nothing wrong with the others in that tree, I still don't feel like the cop fits in there at all though.
Sure the informed in this scenario you're using is basically a cop check, but also because said event would be confirmed pregame, they're actually more powerful than a 1-shot cop. No choice in who, but that knowledge day 1 is extremely helpful.

I guess masonizer does actually double as cop results though. I guess I never really thought that but through.
So I guess that's another convergence evolution that the cop role itself can actually take.

1. VT
2. Roleblocker/Silencer/Vote Thief (shuts off an aspect of a player)
3. Combined Roleblocker Silencer Vote Thief (renders a player as good as dead for a day)
4. Vigilante (outright kills a player)

Though three of those seem very annoying to play against...
Slightly busy and a new player.

well, it seems normal to me that roles evolve like that, because the traditional way that we get new roles is "what if we took that role but [remove / add something]

Unevolved: Vanilla Townie
Basic: Jack-of-All-Trades (Cop, Doctor)
Stage 1: Cop Doctor
Stage 2: Combined Cop Doctor
Stage 3: Multitasking Cop Doctor
Stage 4: Double Cop Doctor

How hybridization evolves.

At Stage 1, you can use only one ability. At Stage 2, you can use both. At Stage 3, you can split targets. At Stage 4, you now are able to use one of the abilities twice instead of using both of your abilities.
