Outerworld
is a setup where there is more than meets the eye. This setup requires two separate sign-up queues, one for players and one for outer deities.

Outerworld is formerly an Open setup, however it is being reworked to a BooneyToonz style game with a closed setup player-wise. The Open version of Outerworld will now be called Legacy Outerworld.

Outerworld will still be open Outer Deity-wise, however the effect list and outer deity alignments may change.

Feel free to discuss any roles that should be allowed and any roles that should be disallowed. I especially want this to feel like Outerworld but with a BooneyToonz or Normal-ish base.

Outerworld Role List
Roles allowed for any alignment

Normal roles not allowed in Outerworld
: Cop, Miller, Role Cop, Vengeful


Explanation of non-Normal rolesOuter Deity interaction roles:

Blessed One - Once in the game during night, you may publically reveal an outer deity's alignment.
Prophet - Once in the game during day, you may empower an outer deity, allowing them to unilaterally impose a special effect and proposed target the next night.
Diviner - Once in the game during night, you may learn an outer deity's alignment.
Miracle Worker - Once in the game during night, effects treat you as the proposed player.
God Slayer - Once in the game during day, you may force an Outer Deity to leave the game but grant them the ability to invoke a special effect and proposed target the next night.
Shadowy One - Once in the game during night, you may reveal an outer deity's alignment in your factional PT.
Nullified - You cannot be a proposed player. Outer Deities will see you as ineligible for proposals. (if Activated, you activate during Day phases. If X-shot, you are assumed to also be Activated.)
Prophesized - Your role, but not alignment, is known to the Outer Deities.
Foretold - The Outer Deities know your role exists in the game.

Other non-Normal roles:

Mystic - Each night, you may learn if a player is mystical or not. Players are mystical if they have a role that can interact with outer deities or if they are a Mystic.
Strong-Willed - This action can't be blocked or interfered with in any way.


Legacy Outerworld Outer Deities
Mercy
(townsiding outer deity, wins if two Mafiosi die with at most one townie death in between or if Town wins without going to ELo.)
Unity
(weakly townsiding outer deity, wins if two unique proposed players in a row are Town-aligned or if they can correctly guess D3's elimination before the end of Night 2.)
Knowledge
(anti-swing outer deity, wins if they correctly guess via a PM to the moderator that someone who is alive is Mafia-aligned before Day 3, or if the game hasn't ended by the time 3 or 4 players are alive.)
Change
(swingy outer deity, wins if Knowledge fails to guess a Mafia-aligned player correctly before Day 3, or if the game ends with at most 1 elimination on either town or mafia.)
Corruption
(weakly scumsiding outer deity, wins if a Mafioso is proposed twice ever or if they can correctly guess N3's kill target before the end of Night 2.)
Evil
(scumsiding outer deity, wins if two consecutive eliminations are on Town or if the Mafia wins with at least 2 Mafiosi alive.)


Spoiler: Effect List for Legacy Outerworld
Slow Mo
- The next day's deadline is multiplied by 4. This effect is revealed.
Fast Forward
- The next day's deadline is divided by 4. This effect is revealed.
Love
- The elimination threshold the next day is increased by 2, to a maximum of alive players minus 1. This effect is revealed. This effect fails in ELo or MeLo.
Hatred
- The elimination threshold the next day is decreased by 2, to a minimum of 1. This effect is revealed. This effect fails in ELo or MeLo.
Sleep
- The threshold for No Elimination is decreased by 4, to a minimum of 1. This effect is revealed. This effect fails in ELo or MeLo.
Nature's Blessing
- The elimination is instead a Treestumping the next day. Treestumped players may post, but may not vote or act and don't count as alive.
Ghostly Curse
- The elimination is instead a Restless Spiritization the next day. Restless Spirits may post naked votes once every 24 hours, but may not post content or act and don't count as alive. Restless spirits die completely if the game ever reaches ELo or MeLo.
Solstice
- The next night's deadline is divided by 2. This effect is revealed the next night.
Subterfuge
- The next night's factional kill has the flip suppressed.
Delay Death
- The next night's factional kill is instead an announcing poison.
Visions
- The outer deities each gain a 1-shot Mailman ability to be used on players at any time.
Light
- The Blessed One gains another shot of their ability. This effect can only be used if the Blessed One is alive.
Shadows
- The Shadowy One gains another shot of their ability. This effect can only be used if the Shadowy One is alive.
Prophesy
- The Town Prophet gains another shot of their ability. This effect can only be used if the Prophet is alive.
Day of Rest
- Activity rules are nullified the next day. This effect is revealed.
Power
- A proposed player has their vote weight secretly increased to 3 the next day. Said player will know. This effect fails in ELo or MeLo.
Suppression
- A proposed player becomes voteless and post-restricted the next day (they may post only once per hour, at penalty of death). Said player will know. The proposed player will not be made voteless in ELo or MeLo.
Divine Intervention
- A proposed player is protected from kills that night and the next night.
Blueness
- A proposed player has their name colored blue in votecounts for the rest of the game, and gains a 1-shot ability to color someone's name blue. This effect is revealed, and the proposed player is revealed. Votecount colors may be mixed.
Greenness
- A proposed player has their name colored green in votecounts for the rest of the game, and gains a 1-shot ability to color someone's name green. This effect is revealed, and the proposed player is revealed. Votecount colors may be mixed.
Redness
- A proposed player has their name colored red in votecounts for the rest of the game, and gains a 1-shot ability to color someone's name red. This effect is revealed, and the proposed player is revealed. Votecount colors may be mixed.
Discern Purity
- A proposed player has their alignment publically revealed. This effect is revealed, and the proposed player is revealed.
Commune With Darkness
- A proposed player has their flip revealed in the Mafia PT. If that player was Mafia-aligned, they get an ability to learn a player's role at any time once in the game. This effect is only revealed in the Mafia PT, and the proposed player is only revealed in the Mafia PT.
Messenger
- A proposed player gains a 2-shot neighborizer ability.
Direct Line
- A proposed player gains a PT with a proposed outer deity. Outer deities may still communicate in Direct Line PTs even if they won.
Soul Seeking
- A proposed player gains a 2-shot tracker ability.
Boon of Law
- A proposed player gains a 1-shot jailkeeper ability.
Gift of Chaos
- A proposed player gains a 1-shot day vigilante ability.
Angelic Shield
- A proposed player becomes loved (needs one more vote to eliminate than normal) for the rest of the game, except in ELo or MeLo.
Demonic Sunder
- A proposed player becomes hated (needs one less vote to eliminate than normal) for the rest of the game, except in ELo or MeLo.
Imposition
- A proposed player becomes ineligible for elimination the next day. This effect is revealed, and the proposed player is revealed. This effect fails in ELo or MeLo.
Nullify
- A proposed player becomes ineligible for being a proposed player for the rest of the game.
Revelation
- A proposed outer deity gains the ability to post in the game thread, even if they won already. This effect is revealed.
Secrets
- A proposed outer deity gains access to the Mafia PT, and may PM the moderator to have this effect revealed in the Mafia PT and gain the ability to post in the Mafia PT even if they won already.
Consecration
- A proposed outer deity gains access to the Temple PT, and may PM the moderator to have this effect revealed in the Temple PT and gain the ability to post in the Temple PT even if they won already.
Outer Deity's Fury
- The outer deities vote on three special effects the next night, which happen at the same time. This effect may not be reused at all.

At F-3 Sleep would decrease No Lim threshold from 2 to 1.

I should probably have the threshold effects not work at ELo if I have them, actually.



Also: I'm planning on disallowing Cop (Discern Purity exists and already has an objection to it), Role Cop (kinda unfun in Outerworld?), and Vengeful (meta-breaking, also not Normal imo).

Update:

Sleep was broken so it was changed despite the effect list being for the open setup.

Banned Cop, Role Cop, and Vengeful as these roles are meta-warping.

I might draft an effect list and outer deity alignments for the first Outerworld game soon.

Remove Gunsmith from possible roles. Effectively Cop since most roles will probably be OD related. I have a better replacement for the favor cop though :P

Mystic


Each night you may target a player. Assuming no interference to your action you will learn whether or not that player is mystical. Players are mystical if they can use their role to interact with the Outer Deities. They are also mystical if they are a Mystic, a BLANK, a BLANK... etc. (To be filled as more roles get added)
Players with the null role, or targeted by a nullifier that night are always investigated as not mystical, regardless of other role.

Null

You are unable to be a proposed player by the outer deities. If you would be proposed, the effect is negated. You are known to not be able to be proposed by the outer deities on each night you cannot be. (In the case of activated or limited shot null, they would need to activate during the day and it would be revealed each night)

Nullifier

Targets a player during the day and gives them the null role that night. The target is not informed but the Outer deities are.

Sacrifice


Whenever you die, you may empower an outer deity for the next night phase.

Prophesized or Prophesized-ROLE
- Modifier

Prophesized- The outer Deities are informed that your role is in the game (but not who you are)
Prophesized-ROLE - The outer Deities are informed that the modified role is in the game (but not who has it)

Gunsmith is a confoundable cop - will need more opinions on it before banning it as gunsmith isn't as foolproof as cop

also I need to remove miller as without cop it is a red herring



Mystic
is a good role imo.

Nullified
(renamed from Null) is a good idea as well to have a Outer Deity-immune player, I like that it looks like a governed player (Imposition is a governor effect) to Outer Deities, which is good.

Nullifier
(which I'll describe as a Outer Deity roleblocker) is pretty okay - it exists as a check and balance against broken strategies.

I am not keen on
Sacrifice
as I don't like Vengeful, however it not using non-standard phases prevents me from hard disallowing the idea.

Prophesized
(I'll use this wording for Superstar to Outer Deities, as in alignment isn't known to Outer Deities) is a good role so Outer Deities have some pieces of the role puzzle.

Discerned
(IC to Outer Deities) might be fine as well. Combining the two might be worth a name of its own, called
Sacred
.

Update:

Miller is banned due to it not being useful without either Cop or Role Cop.

new roles (thanks MegAzumarill)

Mystic
is added. Mystics can check if a player is mystical or not, with mystical players being players with roles that can interact with outer deities or other Mystics.
Nullified
is added. Nullified players can't be proposed players, and are seen as ineligible when proposed players are being voted. Activated Nullified is a Day ability.
Prophesized
is added. Prophesized players have their role but not alignment known to the Outer Deities.

I'm pretty sure MegAzumarill's Prophesized proposals are actually "The Outer Deities know a player with your role and alignment exists." and "The Outer Deities know a player with your role exists, but they don't know the role's alignment." instead of a Superstar-IC to Outer Deities and a Superstar to Outer Deities. Oh well.

Same with the Nullifier - it works during Day and not Night. Oops.

some outer deities maybe:

Amity
- Wants agreement - Wins if scum is eliminated without any scum on the wagon, or if town is eliminated with all scum on the wagon.
Lucidity
- Wants clarity - Wins if an effect without a proposed player is used twice without any effects with proposed players in between, or if they correctly guess via a PM to the moderator that someone who is alive is vanilla before Day 3.
Erudition
- Wants power roles - Wins if a power role is proposed twice without any vanilla proposals in between, or if they are targeted by a player.
Confusion
- Wants confusion - Wins if a wagon gets to E-1 without resulting in an elimination twice in the same day, or if a day ends with less than 24 hours left.

also added
Foretold
, which lets the Outer Deities know the role exists but not who has the role, kinda like Famous.

Amity doesh't need to do anything (nor he can to).
When last mafia elimed, obviously he won't selfvote.
When last townie elimed, probably all scum will be on him anyway.


Confusion. Are there ANY reason town would't put two people on E-1, just for sake of removing him?
Also too easy win.


Can't comment on two others.

Perhaps amity has a chance each night phase to choose a wagon they think fits either criteria.

Or just don't let it win off of the last elim of the game.

Confcusion could be good for alternating elims of town/mafia perhaps.

Alternatively have an elim go through while another wagon is at e-1.

I'm hoping to get ~50% EV for all outer deities, but yeah Amity is meant to want agreement.

Updated role list to include new Normal roles, renamed the outer deity interacting Visionary due to name collision with the Normal role proposal that is now actually Normal (that was one of my proposals! oops!).
