Even though it'll be quite a while before I host a theme, even a mini one, I had an idea.
A majority of the players are lovers. In the game, there is a role called the 'Love Removal Machine' that chooses one player each night and effectively severs the knot with his/her lover. There would probably be some other stuff in there, but that's the basic gist of it.
Naruto Mafia. It was the first idea that popped into my head when I sat on the crapper this morning. It would be a semi-smalltown where the character names are known but powers and alignment are not. This is still a work in progress, but I was wondering if there was any interest.
Crap. I was totally thinking of a set-up based around Portal.
Wait...
I call GLaDOS Mafia. Or something like that. Interesting technology gives you interesting powers while you hunt Mafia androids. Or something like that.
Alright, I've finished up a game I had been modding on another site which means I'll be running a Mini Theme in the foreseeable future. I have three ideas running around in my head and wondered which one would be best, in your opinion:
1. A New Hope Mafia
A game taking place on the Death Star where some pesky rebels have snuck onto the ship and disguised themselves as Stormtroopers. You, as one of many common, nameless grunts, must find these rebels and root them out. Who knows what kind of damage they might cause?
2. Bleach Mafia
Mafia taking place in the Bleach universe. Not exactly sure how this would go, but it would definitely involve Spirits, Death Gods, and Hollows in a Mafia setting.
3. Holiday Mafia
Famous figures representing various holidays are being hunted down by some mysterious force! Who is the culprit? Discover the truth and defeat evil!
Would anyone be interested in a Lord of the Flies-themed Mafia game? I'm not completely sure on mechanics yet but have a general idea of how it would work.

Mind Screw: uPick
That's all I'm saying on the matter until I run my Large Normal and my Mini Theme.
Have Tar as co-mod so that the Mind Screw series isn't ruined again?
Tar or someone with similar experience with screwed-up set-ups will hopefully be co-modding/looking over the set-up before I run it. I can assure you that it will not be like MS Gaiden.
CFK wrote:This may have been done before but what about "Workplace mafia". You could have the "tea lady" as a mafia poisoner, "over-enquisitive employee" could look in peoples desks to reveal their roles (cop), "the filing cabinet" could be bulletproof, etc.
Another theme that could potentially be quite interesting is Team Fortress 2 Mafia.
I've been kinda working on a TF2 mafia. I don't have any really good ideas to give the game justice, though.
I'm currently working on a series of games based around conspiracy and two secret societies working against each other. Each one will use unique, experimental mechanics and heavy flavor that tell a deep, complex story.
The first game is called Novisto Verdugo and takes place in a high school where a small group of children have been tested upon and have received supernatural powers. It involves tricky roles and some mechanics that mods like Tar dabbled in but never really developed. It will be a Large Theme with approximately 19 players.
The other games include one involving non-standard Time Travel mechanics, a game where money and held items are a huge factor, and something to do with viral contagions.
I've been working on a couple of games based on some Valve games, like Team Fortress 2 and the original Half Life. However, I was also thinking about Valve Mafia in general, a Large or Mini Theme where various characters from Valve games end up mashed together.
You could run it like Kingmaker. Whoever wins first place decides the lynch. You could also make it more legitly like Mario Kart by giving the "better" powerups to the people in back. But I think you're already doing that so never mind.
What it reminds me most of is Prisoner Dilemma's Mafia, where the town's choice is super limited in who can actually be lynched. This mechanic seems fairly interesting though. Maybe instead of publicly voting, since no one can talk, make the topic open to the two Kombatants for a period of time while everyone submits votes privately, and then reveal the votes at the end of that period. Plurality wins.
Would anyone be interested in a uPick where players choose a title and then write a story, sort of like Canterbury Tales? The story and the title would tie into their overall role and the various stories would be used in modscenes and vote counts and the like. The game would focus on creativity as obviously the more creative you are in writing your story, the more interesting of role you would probably get.
I think it's going to happen...I want to find one more reviewer before I open it up to pre-ins and shit and make sure I have the time to run it, but yeah, I think this is going to happen.

CLERGY MAFIA!
Basically, I take clergy characters from a wide variety of well-known movies and TV series encompassing an array of genres (comedy, drama, thriller, etc) and fashion them into a Large Theme, possibly with some more complex mechanics based on the characters' portrayed abilities or characteristics in their films/shows. I also promise lots of church-related funnies.
Who's in?
PS: If you'd be willing to backup/review, lemme know.
