I'm in the early planning for a DiabloI/II based large theme game. It'll probably be over a year until I'm qualified, but I'd like to do it when I get there. I noticed Zindaras had done a themed mini, but wasn't sure if anyone was working on a large themed game for this.
This has probably been done before in a slightly different way, but I wanted to run a mini whereby each morning a spread of food is set out for the players to pick from. Meal tickets will be distrubted at random that tell the players the order in which they are allowed to choose their dish. Each dish gives players a predetermined power. If a player dies, the dish they ate that day is removed from the buffet table for the next morning's spread.

Reverse Kingmaker
5 Assasins
8 Townies
1 Kingmaker
1 King; However, the support of eight players must be reached to execute a player
1 Cop
1 Doc
1 Town Hero
Um, why bother with the King then? And why do you need a kingmaker, if you are pre-assigning a king? And are you maintaining it at 8 players, what happens as the game progresses and there are fewer than 8 townies left? And why do I keep starting sentences with a conjunction?
I've been dreaming of a large theme based on the Diablo game series since I joined the site, but it seems that very few would be interested. I've recently been receiving inspiration for a Monty Python based large theme game and was wondering if that would get a much greater response.

Chelo. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.
EDIT: by which I mean I'd definitely play, though it wouldn't be hard to break with role claims, and there aren't a lot of characters to choose from...
But there are quite a few non-characters that could be added like
The priest at the wedding ceremony
giant rats
castle guard
pirate
white stallion
Weren't their sea monsters?
You could even be inanimate objects like the pill that saved Wesley or Inigo Montoya's sword. Or characters that didn't exist like Inigo Montoya's zombie father.
I've had an idea for election mafia for a while but not the time to run it. Basically the town has two factions that are trying to elect their president. If they elect their candidate they win, so they are effectively competing conglomorate jesters. If anyone besides a presidential nominee garners the most votes they die as normal. Scum will be third party candidates that win once the nominees of both parties are dead.
I'm pondering Nasubi Mafia. Need to figure out the repercussions of the mechanics and will probably need an experienced reviewer once I get it written up.

Shorter version:
Nasubi=Win
Hahaha, I've heard of this.
But a Mafia game? How would that work?
It's going to be a bit like Assassins in the Palace. Scum win if they kill Nasubi, town win when they get rid of scum.

No like Nasubi Mafia.
It's themed and different. I will talk about no more because if I do it gives away the game. But the win condition for scum will be killing Nasubi, they don't have to reach majority.
Idea:
* let 12 people sign up.
* create 12 alternate accounts
* Assign alternates to players
* Reveal which 3 players (not alts) are scum and which 9 players are town.
* Make playerclaiming or any form of identifying someone a modkillable offense.
* Watch
this would be a great game for people trying to experiment with new styles. Would be worried that common spelling and grammatical styles will tip people off though. Of course one can also attempt to copy another's idiosyncracies, but I think that'd be difficult.

Of course, they can have a PR to just type boring, bland, useless sentences.
PR's would destroy the entire point of the game.
If players have a log that really defeats the purpose. I'd just use the honors system to be sure people aren't keeping a log. There are so many ways to cheat in this game, the honor of playing by the rules is really what keeps it going.
I think it's a bad sign that I'm so desperate to design a mafia game that I'm coming up with Neuroanatomy mafia. Basically a game where a limited bit of information is spread amongst most town players, but gathering and spreading that information is interdependent on the roles alive in the game. Roles are based on the visual circuits.
You are an ocular motor neuron. Each night you can tell the eye to observe a specific player, and they will see everything they do and everything that happens to that player. If you die the ocular muscles will no longer function and the last player to be targeted will remain observed for the course of the game.
(whispering tracker watcher)
You are a rod photoreceptor. You may see things at night. If you die the retina will no longer function.
(gets to know if anything happened "you were active" "you were inactive")
You are a retinal bipolar cell. As long as you are alive visual stimulation reaching photoreceptors can be passed to the brain for processing. If you die visual signals will not be passed on beyond the photoreceptors.
(role with no abilities but if alive can spread investigation results from photoreceptors to downstream pathways)
You are a direction selective retinal ganglion cell. You can't make out objects but you can tell how many times somebody came and went in the scene you were observing. If you die motion processing will be lost.
(Gets a count of how many players targeted the observed player)
You a pyramidal neuron in the visual cortex facial recognition center. You are able to recognize faces that were present in the visual field.
(gets the list of players that were targeted, or targeted the player)
You are a place recognition cell of the hippocampus. You know where we've been last night.
(Receives the target information.
You are a pyramidal neuron in the frontal cortex. You are cognizant of what you are looking at.
(gets all information)
Cerebellum could work too:
You are a Purkinje Neuron. If you receive input from parallel fibers you have the ability to cause inhibition. You have the power to inhibit and deep cerebellar nuclei.
(Delayed action, target specific roleblocker of some sort)
I like it. I enjoyed... what was it 4chan mafia, that allowed spectators before it got shut down.
Just remember that such a mechanism will likely help out the town since the spectators are more likely than not going to assume the role of a unkillable vanilla townie.

That's why I wanted spectators to be a private thread. Still have to deal with alts, of course, but you've gotta trust your players at SOME point. I agree with modkilling any players found in the spectator thread.
Meh I think having the spectator thread public and open to the players will greatly increase participation in said spectator thread. Another issue is that if it's private you're going to have big trouble getting useful replacements.
An idea to limit the spectator influence would be to give out a couple "spectator" PMs of varied alignments. So some of the people in the spectator thread are knowingly supporting the mafia.
So in effect there are players that can't be lynched but can effect the game.
Somewhat like Trash-Talk?
but they're actual involvement in the game would have to be kept secret so as to allow anyone to effectively be a spectator. Mod could even choose not to include the roles but have it in the game set up section as WIFOM.
Essentially there is a town and a scum captain, they get to recruit players to their side. Obviously the town captain does this without feedback of who got recruited to town.
