I'm saddened, but unsurprised. Do you know what it was? I remember reading some of your posts and thinking you'd quit within a couple months.Goatrevolt wrote:I don't play mafia anymore.

...I wouldn't think of it like that. I also don't want to think of it like that. :\
But the reasoning boggles me, too. I never seem to take the same position, sometimes I take the role of the lazy bum who gets in trouble at L-1, sometimes I'm the honorary Town motivator who gets ousted N1. That's what keeps it different.yabbaguy ~ Winning without actually winning.

Besides- if people are being dumb, it's your job (partially) to get back in the games and show them "no you dunces, you've gotta do it [this way]". Even if you get lynched for being a contrarian and a loudmouth, if your side goes on to lose, it's point proven. That's how you do it.yabbaguy ~ Winning without actually winning.

I may have to leave for real when my games end. The majority of my posting has come from my phone lately and I can't do as much that way. I'm not home nearly enough to use the computer, so this might actually be it for a while. Still got 4 games that either need to end or I need to die in first though.KMD is the coolest dude who ever lost a bet to me - vonflare- The Fonz

Part of the idiocy I've noticed is people refuse to change their styles even when they're proven to suck.yabbaguy wrote:

Newbie games teach you the basics of how to play and not completely flop (like don't randomly vote in LyLo, don't claim scum D1, and so forth).animorpherv1 wrote:Yeah, same here.

They don't teach you how to find scum.Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.- animorpherv1

They don't teach you how to find scum.should. If they did (or even if there is a "How to be a good player" wiki that ICs can link to) than this bout of idiocy would grind to a hault."Animorpherv1's posts are so powerful that prolonged exposure may cause vertigo, nausea, acute tinnitus, and in rare cases, death." - vonflare

They don't teach you how to find scum.should. If they did (or even if there is a "How to be a good player" wiki that ICs can link to) than this bout of idiocy would grind to a hault.
The first general rule of scumhunting is that nobody, including you (yes, you reading this), has a precise and failsafe way to find scum.
In addition, in the event that you DO find scum you have to be convincing enough to override others' usually-incorrect scumfindings. In a mixed group of players, getting scum lynched is fighting other peoples' metas. (Or to use my own quote, "There's no 'I' in TEAM, but there IS one in VIG".)
Rounding out the pizza pie is a corollary to the first general rule - common wisdom and popular ideas about finding scum usually don't work; in fact they tend to be counterproductive for the team as a whole.
Adding the delicious pepperonis on top of this thin crust of your doom is that in the case of Newbie games in particular, ICs are supposed to be helpful and respectable - but not necessarilygoodat playing the game.
For what it's worth, there ARE "How to be a good Townie" and "How tofind scum andget them lynched" articles on the wiki. People may or may not read them, and may or may not forego what's said in them because they believe they have a better way to go about things.Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend. - Vi
