In minigame 10, IS, right before being lynched, claimed that he should run the numbers, and see how often the town loses when he is lynched. Being a mathie, and bored out of my mind at work, I took a look at the summary pages of all of the mafiascum games. The results are interesting.
When IS is a townie, or pro-town role, the town won 7 times, and lost 5. 8 of those times, IS was killed, but curiously, the town won 4, and lost 4. IS's original hunch seems unfounded. It should be noted that when alive, the town win 3 of the 4 games. Conclusion: In this limited sample of games, it seems to be to the town's advantage to leave IS alive.
More harrowing is IS's mafia/SK record. In the 8 games IS was evil, his team won 7 of them! The Paragon of Mafia Hunter's true skill is his ability to help his mafia buddies win. Interestingly, he was killed in 6 of those games, probably because the cops keep investigating him.
Perhaps the GL games could add a new dimension to these statistics, but as you can all see, lynching IS is not really a good idea if he happens to be townie, and it has no bearing on whether the mafia win or lose anyway if his is Mafia!
Well take this as you will, I am simply reporting the numbers.

You might want to note which games IS was lynched, and which he was killed.
For the GL, off the top of my head (because I'm too lazy to actually look something up):
1. Town, lynched, Mafia win
2. Town, killed (I think), Mafia win
3. Mafia, survived, Mafia win (screwy game, of course)
4. Town, survived, Town win
5. not sure
6. not sure
7. Mafia, lynched, Town win
8. Town, survived, Town win
9. not sure
