Loss of Moderator

We recently had a case at the GL where a mafia game had to be abandoned halfway because the mod disappeared (and I later found out from him that his PC had crashed, causing him to lose all information on games set-up).

I think it's a good idea for moderators to send a copy of the game lay-out (complete roles definitions ad assignments, scenarios where required) to someone not in the game. At least someone can complete the game later.

Excellent idea, in my opinion; but the back-up mod would also have to be privy to all of the night choices throughout the game (kind of a silent co-mod).

How long of an absence would you suggest before #2 stepped in?

I wonder if we could set up a password-protected FTP thing for mods to upload their games to.

You are right, in case where players drop out as well.

I am doing this at the moment at the GL for Sebastian - I got the game lay-out and get copied in on all the emails.

If the mod is AWOL for 1-2 weeks, I think the shadow-mod can take over.

That'd be cakewalk. Set up a new FTP account, give it write permission only to some directory, and then if the need arises, either of us can download from there to send to the replacement mod. Or send me the link to the setup thingie (still no HD), and I'll do it myself.

Great idea. I actually have the complete schema and night choices and everything on a Yahoo! account that I created for such things. Sketchwick and I both have the password.

We could incorporate something in mithBB that would allow you to keep track of the game progress with mithBB... a moderator link... hmm...
I might look into this on Sunday.

Ok, I've set up an FTP account (moderator) for mods to backup their files to. If you want to use it, PM me for the password (no reason for non-mods to have the password). If someone wants to test it out, that would be great, I'm only in one game anyway.

the extent of my FTP knowledge is what Hy put up on the glpics thread- so i can pretty much upload, delete, and make files. but i might be able to password protect them or somethign. is that what you mean? my l33tness is minimal at best.
