Day One actions
Alright, I just thought that it was time for some Discussionizing as to best possible actions during day one. I, for one, usually take the random vote route-- I feel that it leads to some discussions, helps people see who really don't like being vote for, leads to random bandwagons, which leads to information. Though it is crude, there aren't many other options-- save asking information roles to reveal information, which isn't very useful on Day One (Truth be told, I'm not a huge fan of information roles, period). I've noticed that some of our players, however, have taken a stand against it-- not forceful, but they seem to note that they don't really like the system.
I'm not saying that Random Voting/Bandwagoning is necessarily the best answer, but I'd like to hear what people think IS the best course of events on Day One.- Fletcher

I agree with you. I don't think there are many other choices. It's the best way to start discussion (so far) and it seems pretty efficient. It's kind of like a domino affect the way random voting starts discussion.[size=75]"But you know what they say. 'Too much of a good thing is an awesome thing. What I've seen most often from the anti-random bandwagon crowd is that everyone should speculate about the roles, deaths, etc. until someone does something stupid, and then bandwagon them.
(I'd like to see a game composed entirely of anti-random Day 1 bandwagon people just to see if/how it'd actually get anywhere.)- Fletcher

Well, in Quantum Mafia the whole first day we couldn't vote and we all had to agree on someone to lynch. It was really hard getting off to a good start.[size=75]"But you know what they say. I usually like to random vote first, and then start voting for someone that said something a bit suspicious, and then a bit more, and so on. Hopefully, the suspicions will grow stronger, and I will catch a mafia.
If I'm mafia, I do the same, but suspicions are based on CrapLogic™.- gslamm

vote:RiteHe's been scum in most of the games we were in together so the odds favor him.
I'm one of those that doesn't random vote anymore. I don't really mind if others do it. One of the problems I have with it is that you sometimes see games which contain 6 consecutive posts that sayrandom vote:xxxand nothing else. I don't think that serves any purpose. Its not that difficult to post something more, maybe about the deathscene or about the theme. I certainly won't react to random votes directed against me.- cuban smoker

Ah, the classic debate. It's been around forever, you're never going to solve it. Day One always has, and always will stink, no matter how you start it. The only exception to that is in a game like Intrigue, where there are a million crazy happenings each night that can be speculated about and two million crazy roles that might have info. (Then again, the people who disapprove of random voting also often dislike information roles. Go figure.)
My 2 cents...exactly what CS said.- PolarBoy

I don't mind random votes that much, but after 6 or 7, it gets kinda ridiculous. Also, since it's become standard practice for people to postrandom vote: xxx, the first page or two of a game can be pretty devoid of meaningful content. Though sometimes you find someone overreacting to a random vote, which is helpful.- cuban smoker

I agree, that was quite usefull. Not really the way you meant though . When I noticed that your first post of day 1 was also 19 words, I had a perfect idea for a roleclaim concerning post restrictions. Too bad you guys lynched me before I could speak up. But we won anyway .gslamm wrote:Hey!! My confirms have been known to have meaningful content.
