3 player mafia- tournament?
Ran some more 3-player mafia games, and they have been working out rather well. The quick nature and the complete reliance on skill made me think, wouldn't it be possible to have a single elimination tournament? I'm working on the details of how the tournament would be run, but the idea I have is that in each game, one or two people advance, depending on whether mafia or town wins. Of thewinners pool, new brackets of three would be made, and for incomplete backets, the missing spots would be filled from the loser pool. The priority system for revival would be something like
1. Must not have subed before during the tournament
2. In higher rounds, those to go longest before being eliminated have priority
3. Those who lost in games with advanced players wouold get priority over those who lost in games with newbies.

Maybe, but probably 3 players is the limit. I feel like there's really only two things at play in one of these tournaments: luck and meta-gaming. If player A doesn't like Player B, then he's going to try to get him lynched just so he won't advance (plus, he's got a 50/50 chance of killing the one guy he needs to to win). Generic 3-player mafia is basically a crapshoot, isn't it? I'd certainly play, though.

The three player mafia I'm using has these roles:
Mafia - wears a X colored shirt
Sane Witness - wears a Y colored shirt and is told the mafia is wearing X
Delusional Witness - wears a Z colored shirt and is told mafia is wearing Y
Normally, the three colors have always been red, white, and blue
Skill comes into play when someone wants to claim a color and what they saw and in what order. Mafia can eigther choose to claim to clash with a suspicious player or claim to get a full circle. Must it be played on AIM? I can't use AIM since it has to be installed on the computer and I can' install on college computers. I can only use web-based messengers.I'm never wrong... well I was wrong once but that was when I thought I'd made a mistake but hadn't.- Stewie

The game has been play-tetsed extensivly on AIM (It works extremely well, especially among experianced players that try to psych each other out)
I'm not sure how it'd run in a BB environment. Anybody of for a board tets game?"Trying to outguess the mod can be hazardous to your health" - Foolster41 in Paranoid Mafia
