Oldy Mafia 2

This is something I have been thinking about the last few days, when talking to Patrick about the invitational we did by year. Today I found oldy mafia. A game I had previously forgotten about and it got me wondering a few things. Firstly and most importantly, could we do it again? Secondly, how much playstyle has changed since now and then and thirdly, how the hell did we lose in 7p lylo?

Anyway, this is a thread asking for interest. 2007 and before is what I am thinking. However would go to 2008 if needed. If you are a vet and you are interested please tell me so, tell me what kind of game you would want, (for ease, if I was modding a theme game for me, would be non-specific theme but roles may not come under the current definition of normal, if it was normal, it would come under current site definitions) and all the other things you might be interested in.

This is currently an idea floating around in my head, if there is enough interest I will talk to Flay/mith/chamber etc. and try

to get them involved

and get a game running. So please post, even if it is just to say /in.

Last Oldy mafia was predominantly 2006 and older. Ythill I believe was the only original player with a 2007 join date.

I remember you scumlurking through the entire game, Poro. Do you intend to actually play this time? Or would you be modding?

I also remember UT tactically replacing out as scum and I still hate him a little for that.

I misremembered. Oldy Mafia 1 happened in 2010 and featured several people with join date 2007.

2009 seems an appropriate cut off with a decent shot at getting a large together.

EDIT: Though I suppose there's still enough people around from that era that the game wouldn't feel very special. The main draw of the original for me was that quite a few inactive old timers came back for it.

If this is happening and I'm a part of it, I only have one request in terms of set-up, and that is for it to be suitably old school. No neighbors, ninjas, fruit vendors, etc.

I think a more lenient cutoff like 2009 would be better. As the mod of the last one, I seem to remember a fair amount of flaking and difficulty finding replacements, and I think a 2007 cutoff would be hard to maintain.

Heh, Im more active in my games atm. I was thinking about modding, but I have no problems with playing instead, particularly under Patrickmod.

In regards to join dates, I think its worth seeing the interest in this idea from older players first. I am with Patrick having looked at how many older players are still on site recently... there isn't many... that said, if we resurrect old players, then I would want them to have a slot in the game. (provided, of course, they don't piss off half way through)

Mostly I miss being able to play short, compact games without spamming, swearing, or delaying. (Granted

longer than the ones around when I joined, but the game length nowadays has almost reached the point of being flatly unacceptable).

We could possibly set it to 2007 and see how many players we can get - while the last one was an 18p large, there's no reason this one has to be.

Someone should rope MBL into playing. It worked a treat last time.

I think 2009 is when the site meta swung strongest to what it is now.
I think in 2008 you have a lot of old-time-ish players (Camn, Socio, SpyreX, Llama) who all fit in with the old meta a hell of a lot better than they fit in with the new meta.

If you're not on this list, you were in the first Oldy Mafia (MBL, Glork, Yos, etc.) or I've seen you recently enough that you're not in need of resurrection (Thesp, etc.) or I've shamefully forgotten about you, but needless to say I'd be thrilled to play with you again.

Go big I say. Get a couple of blockbuster comebacks and I figure the rest of the oldies will get out of hibernation and flock to this thread.
