Game length inflation is a huge problem right now.

Xenoblade broke the record for longest day 1 at 120 pages.

If a large has <120 pages day one, it's a win nowadays.

Pfft. Longest D2 is totally where it's at, now.
(Getting longest on both D1 and D2, or even getting remotely close, is a near-assurance for longest overall, though.)

In most game's defenses, it can largely be traced to
-Larger game sizes, be it via actual number of slots or actual number of players (every hydra = an extra voice adding posts),
-Posting style no longer favoring walls and instead favoring multiple shorter posts inflating the page count,
-People having gone stream of consciousness and learning that it works well, even though it creates situations where you need lots of corrections in followthrough posts (be it changing circumstances or just having failed proofreading the first time),
-People spamming up the early sections of the game to have fun during the RVS (yes, it contributes),
-And big whopping arguments between specific players, the dreaded XvX (townVtown, townVscum, or scumVscum) fights.

I'd only say one or two of these are actual definite negatives.

I think you missed that people are really pussy-footed about pushing lynches through nowadays.

Like, Death's Diner saw literally every member of the scum team and 2-3 townies get run up to L-3 or so on day 1. It was fucking ridiculous.

Yeah, add to Mastin's list "scum spamming to get town to fall behind and not be able to contribute, but using an attempt to break the longest game record as an excuse". I still kick myself for not PLing Y+B. And a couple times around that time, the players I've thought I should PL have been scum. Like I'm kind of coming around to the idea of PLs with Inuyasha as the best example why.

JesusNachoHydra isn't so bad, but I'm absolutely disgusted with myself and the rest of the towns for letting Y+B and House win those games as scum. Not that I blame House for that move. But still.
