Sure. Off the top of my head, Himalayan in 2006.
And NY170 in 2014.
Appenine Mafia, 2009. Very painful.

Oh man, Appenine Mafia! With a Night Start! Where I died! And Yaw was modding! That's definitely old school.

I definitely remember a bit less care to balance overall when I started. People just went "this seems neat" and there were less reviews of others' setups. I also remember being frustrated that a game wasn't moving that quickly and telling people to post more when I started modding. I doubt I'd have to do that these days(although I haven't played in 2-3 years at this point, so I don't know exactly where the meta is now)

That still works. I just used it after someone asked me what I was doing on my phone.

I can relate to most of Ether's post.

Kuribo, I remember dead VTs replacing back in. I think I remember the same player playing three different slots once. Then there was a MD thread about if they die as town and replace in as scum and town wins, do they still get credit for winning? And most people I think maybe said no and someone said what if town won based on something that person said as town. Then something something big theory discussion and yeah those were the days lol.

Before hascow's post, I forgot how frustrating it was to die on N0.

Did anyone mention deadline hitting and whoever has the most votes veing lynched instead of it being a no lynch?
Or scum talking by PM rather than QT?
Or certain buzzwords actually working as far as making your case look stronger (bandwagoning, vote hopping, fence sitting)?

I mean, I haven't played in years, hell if I know. Maybe you're right, it just doesn't sound like something that we as a society can ever truly overcome.

One of the craziest old school games I've ever been in: http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=13319

There was no scum at the beginning, but 4 players turned scum N2, whenever a townie was lynched another townie turned SK, the Docs killed each other, a random cop, a stupid post restriction that reduced the number of votes taken to lynch... And no announcement of the game as Bastard, just this:

There are no cults, jesters, or day actions. All deviations from a normal game are role-based, and that the game runs exactly like a normal game (ie, vote during the day, night actions at night).

This is based on a few small mechanics, as the name suggests. Some might call it bastard, but I don't really think so - it should be good fun either way, though.

I think the old school disowns that game. Jebus as mod in a "seemingly normal" game should have raised more red flags than the Chinese government.

they said old. not prehistoric, mr. 2003.

My first large normal game i played was a Jebus "normal" game.

http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=11465

It featured 20 replacements, a lyncher, a scum mason, a named Vigilante (Batman the Vigilante), a cult with a kill,

oh and featured a mod note about masons:

[Note: If a mason asks about whether or not they can trust their mason partners, the response is "there is no reason not to trust them". This was to help make up for the fact that they were the only non-town constant killing faction in the game.]

Gotta stand by Mr. Tripod on this one, dude.

Anyway, Jebus's game caused an outrage and I think was the catalyst for scum masons and/or cults being banned from normals? It was terrible, but it was a special kind of terrible.

That game and Natirasha's Lolwat? (with Mafia Masons) were the catalysts for Normalcy getting codified, the NRG,and all of that. Essentially, the reasons we can't have nice things.

Though to be honest if we still had casual Normalcy rules today's mods would cause that kind of outrage with
their
"Normal" setups, so one can't blame them too much.

Damn that was an awesome game. Wish we were able to do a Jebus Kise hydra.
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe.
