for Tarot, and for Edgar Allen Poe, for the newbie games that she mods which always have interesting flavour (handwriting, Republican Primary, ferytales, etc.)

I like her attention to detail and her kindness as a moderator and how quickly she helped out with issues when they arose. And her vote counts always have flavour in them and she puts them up frequently and I can't word this as well as I'd like to but I think she's one of the better moderators on this site and I really enjoy her games.

I read enough of the Tarot link to agree with you. While I personally don't like too many images posted in game threads, this is certainly a personal preference and there is no denying the attention that fferyllt paid to trying to add flavor to that game. I assume her others are the same.

If my vote matters, I 2nd fferyllt (and I'm assuming that more than one scummy can be awarded for best mod, because I think that Cheetory deserves one too).

It's one award only, but it shouldn't really be treated like a competition.

I'm of the opinion that one should nth any particularly good example, and let the judges sort it out.

The thought of BEES getting a best setup award makes me really, really uncomfortable.

This is going back to when Marquis was nominated for that one game in particular, back on Page 23. I'm all for him getting awards as a body of work thing!

Meh, everyone who played the game, town and scum alike, both loved the setup.

BEES was scumsided. It had a lot of gimmicky ideas and tons and tons of weird setup speculation, but it didn't actually give the town enough concrete power. I don't think setup speculation should have that much influence over any normal game, and I really don't like the idea of less experienced mods who don't have reputations yet aspiring to cover that sort of ground.

Marquis ran it well, and I've got nothing against him as a mod in general! But yeah. I don't think BEES was an example of a strong setup, and I definitely don't think it was an example of a strong
normal
setup.

Gimmicky ideas?

The only thing I can think of is the two backup IC's was. Encryptor Enabler is entirely normal and a cool role. And Marquis made the dull town rolecop an interesting role. It's toen's fault that the odd night rolecop got lynched N1. If he survives, everything could have changed. There's no reason that PR should have been lynched D1, except town couldn't get their act together and waited until deadline to get the wagon that far.

Scum sided? Probably need to talk with the reviewers.

Why not? (Literally multiple town players mentioned how they enjoyed the setup and setup spec)

(Perhaps a different discussion for a different thread).

I will stand by this setup as a fantastic Normal setup

Like ... if someone has two really great scum performances in a year, is that enough? Should it be more? What's a good standard? (I have someone I want to nominate for their scum/SK play, but I don't know if it's enough to warrant it and don't want to waste people's time).

honestly, i would say it's fine in both your case and the case of whoever you want to nominate (people have been nominated for don corleone after so much as 1 scum game in that year iirc). to put it in perspective, someone who plays 20 games/year as a baseline will only average ~5 scum games/year - you would have to be a very active player to get a body of work containing a lot of scum games, and in your case, i don't think anyone would hold it against you if half of yours just so happened to be in setups where a cross kill was possible and you got cross killed.

there is also a best third party award if this is specifically SK play you want to nominate.

If it's not too late, I'd like to nominate the original Slavic Music Mafia for Game of the Year.

http://forum.mafiascum.net/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=63992

I don't think I've ever played a game quite like it, and the room mechanic made for one of the best games that I've ever played, as well as a playerbase filled with great players.

nth Marquis and ffery
Also, what is NM doing? Worst play I’ve ever seen.
I can't remember the last N_M post that wasn't bland, unimaginative and lame. Some shitposters are at least somewhat funny. You are the epitomy of the type of poster that nobody would miss if you were to suddenly disappear. You never add anything of value.
I'm guessing you haven't read the game and probably never will? Why even sign up to play?

Uhm, errr, uh, gonna, uh, err
Nom Varsoon for Modfather

*cough*

This year, he ran Varsoon Mafia (large theme), Space Dandy Mafia (mini theme), Steven Universe Mafia (large theme), and Suikoden U-pick (mini theme). He is currently running Steven Universe the Prequel (mini-theme) with SaGa Frontier Large Theme in signups. That's a lot of games to run in a year, I think. I'm pretty sure there wasn't a point in time where Varsoon wasn't running a game or doing design for the next.

Each of these games had a fantastic turnout, flavor that involved players and was perfectly rendered into mafia, and, uh, basically, Varsoon's a great moderator and has been putting lots of effort into these games and so I think he should win this award. As a testament to the credentials he has built as a moderator, his current Mini Theme for Steven Universe the Prequel filled in 4 and a half hours and received 4 /ins to replace. That's gotta count for, i dunno, something.

I don't wanna toot my horn, but I really do think I put a ton of effort in and that a lot of players appreciated it. I've been told by more than one player that my games are why they play on this site/have continued to play. I also noticed that there wasn't much competition for the modfather award and so I want it not to just be a shoe-in but something that's considered a bit more. I dunno. I'm a loser.

You should have seen Everything is a Lie Mafia with 6 pre-ins and filled in half an hour.

I 3rd Varsoon
.
Although I haven't been in any of his games, I know the feeling (*) when I work very hard to do something cool, useful or necessary, and in the end noone even seems to realize all the effort I have made.

(*) These feelings are not MafiaScum-related.

Nth Varsoon
. I thought someone had already done it or I would have. He shouldn't be penalized for the self-nomination. He ran the best game of the year, imo, and his body of work for the year is absurdly strong. Steven Universe was hands down the best game I saw on site all year (and I'm one of those weird people who go and browse other games, so I looked at a LOT of games this year), and I think it was nom for best setup or something that I remember.

Sorry you had to self nom Varsoon.

It's all cool; I just noticed that ffery got nom'd for modfather (which is totes fair, Ffery is an amazing mod and ran some great games this year, I loved Edgar Allan Poe mafia) but that there weren't really any other 'noms for the position. I wanted it to feel a bit more like a contest than a shoe-in, and I recalled that this was pretty much the year I started modding on a regular basis.
