General I made an avatar for another player before.
What exactly do you mean by "depending on my role"?
Have I gone far enough off theme to now be a completely new person?

encryption is against the rules.
Idk if it's because of encryption or out of game influences or both or whatever, but obviously it shouldn't be allowed. I thought that was obvious, but I felt like I had to draw attention to the issue after GiF posted without saying anything to Annadog.

It's essentially the same reason you're not allowed to edit posts if you have the power, which is more obviously cheating.
You know when you think about it, even if you did have the power and editing your posts was allowed why would you want to do so?
By editing your post in a game you are telling people that you have something to hide. People WILL find out that you have edited a post and will want to know why. Regardless if it was an honest mistake this'll make you look suspicious.
This avatar is going to be permanent for me. Its serious enough to make people think I'm a serious player, cute enough to provide a light touch, pretty enough to prey on bias towards attractive people and feminine enough to represent what I am.

"READING KATSUKI IS LIKE SOME SORT OF POSTMODERN ARTFORM"
- GreyICE
Katsuki is by far more absurdly beautiful than Fate. (hai parama)
Katsuki's Madness coming to you shortly: Nov, 2011!
I've heard players insist that avatars lead to players reading them differently. One person I remember doing that used a rubix cube as an avatar, hoping that it was an arbitrary enough symbol.
I feel like there may be some truth to that. I tend to townread BooKitty (hellokitty avatar) and Fluminator (Hobbes of Calvin&Hobbes avatar) due to them having fairly cute, unassuming avatars. I've gone on record giving zmuffinman a hard time over his wolf avatar.
I've only changed mine once, since I started on the site.
I think avatars should project the sort of persona that you'd like to exhibit. It's your visual representation here.
I don't mind when other players switch their avatars, although it can be quite confusing when they do it mid-game.
Well, of course.
In face-to-face mafia, if your facial expressions will affect how your read.
Your avatar is a literal digital face.
That's probably why there are people that don't like avatars getting changed--it makes it more difficult to recognize someone once you change their face and the new face may be contrary to how you used to picture that player.
