remove large normals and just make mods create some generic half assed lore so they can run in large theme

Yes please let this happen. I want to play full games here but the long deadlines just make me get busy and even when i am not busy I start to get bored simply because one day phase is already a full game on my home site.

If a queue HAS to be removed in order to add another queue, why not just merge Mini Theme queue into the Large Theme queue and run all themes the same way? Not that I'm convinced a queue needs to be removed, but this appears to be the only solution that Zoraster will accept.

If a queue has to go, I'd remove the large normal queue mostly because it's type of games can run in the large theme queue and the number of them that run is low enough that no one would really know the difference anyway.

But I think there's some unfounded fear that too many queues are a problem. I think it's better to have more categories of games. It makes it easier to find the exact type of game you want. Fewer queues make it more challenging to do that.

We don't have a large normal queue and haven't for quite some time. It's all run out of the Normal queue now.

Yes and no. It doesn't have it's own thread anymore, but it still functions as a separate queue.

Urgh, this is still a thing thats being considered. I was hoping it would die.

I don't see a point in this, the thing about mafiascum was that it was different from other sites which ran mafia games. But I understand the reasoning, get more people interested in the site yadda yadda. I do wonder about the syphoning from the rest of the site, I can see a large majority of players settling for a 2 hour game over a longer commitment, which would effectively kill the rest of the site. However if that's what people are looking for, who am I to disagree.

What I did and still completely object to is a merging/killing off of one of the queues. There is no point, zor (for now I am addressing you). For reason I and others have given before. Each thread caters to its own specific subset. You replace one of those, you lose a subset. How do you guard against it?

poro i think we would still maintain the long one but i grew up where it was 24/24 hr cycles and i really enjoyed it cus it was quick and witty

Working one shift puts me 4 hours over prod range in a game with those rules ignoring the fact that I have to be 15 minutes early (I'm usually 30-45 early) and assuming I get out on time and check in from the parking lot both before and after work. Yikes lol

Real thoughts though:
Did someone already suggest running an experimental queue with a trial period and review committee to decide it's fate at the end of the trial period? Or maybe just do it and if it doesn't work shut it down?

I think there are at least a few short-deadline games working their way slowly up through the mini theme queue, including one by Equinox and one by me.
