I've never really felt a sense of elitism on this site. At least not a culture; you get a few people who are arrogant as shit about themselves and think they're always right and everyone else is wrong, but it's definitely a few individuals with elitism about themselves, rather than a general site attitude.

I think the last 10 games I have played in, at least half of them, some person mentioned their join date as some kind of proof to their argument being right.

I don't mind talking about your experience playing the game. I do mind players acting like it makes them know all or that they are inherently know better. I myself was horrible with this actually in Netherspites blitz game. I continued to shout that lynching Neutrals was a waste of our lynches. Turns out it was the right call. I still hold my stance had merit, but I definitely was acting like a bit of a elitist snob trying to affirm my own stance on it.

i think i have literally never seen this happen in the hundred or so games i've played in and countless others i've read

i have seen people mention join date as a reason to, say, hate someone's playstyle, but never this

My joindate on this site may be June 2014

But I didn't really start playing on this site - or mafia in general - until February this year.

Plus - I took a 4 month hiatus from June to October.

I've only been in 7 notable games. An SK once(I won), town 5 times(I'm eternally town), and scum only once(Where the team won because I voluntarily got bussed.)

So yeah.

Am I a newb based off this? In terms of time-experience and game quantity?

I really enjoy this site (it's the only site I ever played mafia on...I was only introduced to mafia in February)

There's one or two bad apples, but by and large everyone here is fun to play with.

Except Ythan, that guy is extremely arrogant. Its funny all I ever see him do when trying to prove a point is quoting someones join date as if that makes him auto right. Very hilarious to watch.

we need to demean newbs the moment they enter the game. Don't address them by their real names, just call them newbs and stick by it. Otherwise they are going to bring down the win rates of all the experienced players. Come on guys, you have been way to nice to newbs. While we are at it, we might as well limit their rights on the site too.

There is a difference between hazing and being mean. Hazing is more along the lines of a rite to initiation. I am not asking people to go out and call newbs retards and other names, which was what prompted me to make that last thread.

That is coming from someone who has joined 10 years ago though, so you really are a veteran if anything.

There isn't one activity where you are no longer a greenback after at least two years. Of course, I had an advantage since I am verifiably smarter than all of you.

Okay, so how do we differentiate being a newbie from just sucking? For example, I suck hard as mafia. I only win as mafia 1 fifth of the time. On the other hand, I rarely ever lose as town. Last time I checked I had something close to a 92% win rate as town.

Newbies lack particular knowledge, but that doesn't necessarily make them bad at mafia.

7 games is why I called him a sper newbie. Before I was even on this site I probably had double that played. In my height of play I was playing ~10 games at a time while also playing chat mafia daily.

2 years isn't the issue.

I agree that this would also be a problem, but the direct opposite is also a problem. When you have newbies which are not humble about their amount of experience, you are not doing town any favors.
