So the thing in question is this: as scum you do basically nothing all game until you are at (or very close to) Lylo and then you make a big push on someone to win the game. I'm sure this happens, but is there a name for it?

If I was going to name it I would call it sandbagging, but that's just me.

LOL, yes I suppose lurking would fit the bill. But what about making a big push with a lot of evidence against someone else?

Hm. I guess you're right. Sandbagging would fit the description. But I think it doesn't have a name because it is not a popular tactic?

Yes, except that it is a really boring playstyle (for the most part).

I actually wonder how effective it would be.

Well, there is a reason I like to hunt lurkers in the early game, so probably not very.

If you keep doing it as town, then you are probably going to end up on a lot of "don't want to play with anymore" lists.

There ARE people who lurk as a playstyle.

Yes, and people generally don't appreciate that. Nobody expects everyone to be super-active, but lurking is not cool, especially not when done consciously.

I know that I policy lynch lurkers on D1, unless I find someone particularly scummy for another reason.

Eh, I kind of think everyone needs to develop a strong lurker-game. Lurking as a town tactic can be circumstantially very effective.

Kinda in agreement here.

It's not that I really like lurkers, and I hate rewarding the playstyle, but policy lynches just kinda suck, in my opinion.

Can you explain how it can be effective?

Because you are leaving the rest of the town in the dark, by making it more difficult to read you, because you are lurking.
