Questioning your townreads
Is it a good idea in general to say why someone you're townreading could be scum?
I think its not, as it is self-contradictory: Why are you suddenly scumreading the person you were townreading?
But my experience says otherwise. I had 3 town games on this site, and I lost all of them, because of an obvtown who was actually scum.- Wisdom

When games get to closing is when your scrutiny should get stronger.
I am not in many Lylo situations. But every time I go in to a lylo as town I always vote for my biggest townread. I have only been wrong when I strayed from this. That is that every time I was in lylo my strongest townread was the mafia.
There is no point in throwing away reads due to paranoia. But as games get closer to the end you have to question why you and your townreads are both alive.Don't @ me.- Equinox

It doesn't have to be a scum read nor does it have to be sudden. You can read someone as town but have doubts about some of the things that they've said or done. As Espeonage said, those doubts become increasingly significant as the game goes on. If you voice those doubts and then you get killed in the night, then something is definitely up!- Kublai Khan

Actually, the "obvtown" was the general agreement among everyone, not who I thought was obvtown (at least some of the times)-

My playstyle, when I'm at my best, is to document everything. (usually in small bursts, because it's hard and time consuming)
Ideally, I keep open to the possibilities, within reason. I may change my style to 'bully' people if I have a really strong read and want them to direct their attention elsewhere.
When I'm being slightly lazy, or forcing myself to act confident, it's very easy for scum to slip past me though.- Performer

I can concur with this. On the other hand, it really depends. Many if not most, or even all the time in my town games, I will have at least one secret strategy I hold under covers. As in, I won't tell ANYONE no matter what.
For example, making posts look like I"m soft claiming PR to scum and playing dumb to town. Fortunately I'm consistent with my strategies so people can't truly pick apart whether I'm lying or being honest LOL. It's so fun to see how things unfold after a secret strategy.
So it really depends on how you question your townreads. Sometimes it's good , sometimes it's bad. Sometime I will question my townreads as days draw on and they're still alive...but whenever you question your townread and they actually are town, you better back that up with legit engagement. Otherwise you'll find yourself wagoned or even mislynched.I’m an informed Miller who knows there isn’t any Loyal modifiers and there is a total of 4 scum.-Morality
I'm easily the best person in the game at mechanics. I don't presume to be the best at anything else.-Jingle

You should question things based on how your assumptions and conclusions correlate to facts. If your early reads are correct, then you can get away with 'tunneling' to an extent, but you should do a full reset the moment a nightkill goes on a player you would never expect to be night killed, for example.
Being open with this type of thinking is never a bad idea, as it gives people an opportunity to convince you to their own thoughts (which is readable) and it makes keeping you alive more dangerous to scum.- Firebringer

You apparently did not get what I was doing there.

Don't ever ask me why I'm questioning a town read. Just because I town read you doesn't mean I'll keep you as a town read forever. It's not black and white, a player can't be expected to have their reads remain static. If I change a town read to null or scum, then consider my motivation (alongside my whole play) in doing so.- Cheery Dog
