Sometimes you might notice a discrepancy in a player's thinking.
How do decide when to go after that?
Because sometimes townies just make mistakes. Problem is sometimes those townies get real defensive, if you go after them you end up in a circular TvT, which makes scumhunting harder on everyone.
So how do you decide when to engage/disengage?

I have a tendency to end up overengaging in such circumstances, and so I'm probably not the best person to give advice on this, but: the easiest way is to ask a few clarifying questions, and most importantly, not assume that the answers are coming from a scum mindset. Townies typically have a logical reason for doing what they're doing, even if it isn't a very good one. Scum often don't, and can end up looking scummier trying to make one up.scum· scam · seam · team · term · tern · torn ·town- ZZZX

I am a person who cares about intentions more often than not. If it is a mistake that has no scum intention behind it then letting it go is more logical than not.Implosion: I see ZZZX wasredacted. For shame, people. For shame.

Basically try to work out what possible gain the mistake could have for scum.
If it doesn't have one, this is not a towntell (I've done things with no scum motivation as scum before now, and recommended my scumbuddies do the same, purely to confuse people who think it's a towntell), but it's not a scumtell either.scum· scam · seam · team · term · tern · torn ·town- Amihan

Sometimes I like engaging with players for an extended period of time so I can figure out if they honestly feel what they are saying to be true. Reaction tests are usually dumb, unless they're a byproduct of war.
This probably makes me a bad person. - Amihan
