Oh, 3rd parties shouldn't have the same chance of winning.

And SK should have a much lower chance than either town or mafia.

Scum shooting into a doctor shot isn't nearly as meaningful.

So failing to remove a player from the game when scum has every expectation that the player will be removed isn't meaningful?

It's not as meaningful as an inno on a GF. It doesn't swing the game nearly as hard.

yawn.

huge difference between someone not dying and someone being told a player is innocent when they're not.
2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.

... how does this even make sense on any level? :/

what should a third party's chance of winning be, then?

A good mod won't word it that way anyway.

"Once per night you may attempt to discern the alignment of another player"

"Your investigations indicates that they are innocent."

If you're flat out saying "XXXX is innocent," you're just asking for them to call bullshit on you if it's a Godfather.

Really? One kill can make a WAY bigger difference than an inno on a godfather.

Not without it heavily involving player skill.

In other words, missing a kill is more damaging in reality than it is on paper.

Psychology. Not math.

GG, nextmap.

No, it can be.

It can also be less damaging.

Go read Teen Wolf Season 1 mafia where town stopping a kill N1 almost lost them the game.

A game with third parties in is very difficult to balance, especially if small. I don't think it's impossible to design a good three-faction setup, but it is much harder than designing a good two-faction setup.

I think like 10% seems pretty fair, tbh. Enough for someone to want to take on the challenge, not high enough that they make everyone lose all the time.
