Some Shit I Was Thinking About

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Fri May 20, 2016 8:24 pm

So I was thinking about a couple things, or I have been for a while now. Music, ego, and attention.

I want to go into Music real quick. Music is one of the most fundamental things of my life, like completely, some aspects of music completely define how I act sometimes, or how I feel. It sounds edgy, but it's a lot more sophisticated. For example, when I listen to fast beat, hard flow rap, I get aggressive. Really, really aggressive. I don't know if it's some sort of trigger in my brain, or if it's due to my emotional disorder, but it makes me super aggressive. Then, I have another playlist dedicated to just classical music. I listen to that whenever I'm trying something new out, where I want to have more of a serious, tense playstyle where I use my mind a lot more. I haven't used that playstyle on this site yet, but I'm going to have to use it at least once to show you guys what I mean when I say there's a massive difference from how I play when I listen to rap to how I play when I listen to classical. I then have a rock playlist which is just pretty chill. I'm not particularly aggressive, but I'm not extremely passive either. I find it extremely interesting to get these sort of reactions from music. It's just super cool to be able to feel a different way from listening to a certain type of music. I'm also not saying like, that music always makes me feel the same. If I were listening to a Kendrick Lamar with his songs having a lot more meaningful connotation, then I'd feel what he's trying to convey in his songs. Happiness, self confidence, depression, or whatever. However, if I'm listening to Lil Wayne Six foot 7, I just get really pumped. Like, I get super aggressive and pumped, and I start thinking of the randomest shit to say. Real G's move aside like lasagna. I don't know, it's that songs mixture of brilliant lyrics combined with funny lyrics to make me really feel this way along with the beat.

Then you also have ego. Ego is something I use a lot in my games. A lot. In a lot of my finished games, if not all of them, I've at one point stated at least 80 to 70 percent of my scumreads are correct in that moment, and when I push a person, I've told people that I'm confident in my ability. Now, this is actually a pretty good tool. While it makes you look like an ass, that's what postgame is for. This has worked both ways for me. In Mini something something, I tunneled Kling to death Day 4 or Day 5 or some shit, and I got him lynched and he flipped goon. It took me a couple days to get him lynched, but I kept death tunneling him while saying that my reads were right. I also just went back and forth with him in a 1v1 argument where I literally just talked about how great I was. It's also a weird thing, but I think being egotistical like that provides some bit of confidence in people. Think of Winston Churchill, the guy was a bit of an ass from what I understand. That said, he gave one of the best Military speeches of all time, if not the best. It's because his confidence in himself, in his country, it rose to inspire others. If you're that confident in your reads, or you pretend to be, you'll get others confident in your read if you truly believe there's something there. Now, if you're wrong, you're getting fucked. So don't be wrong.

Then you have attention. Mafia is a social game. I've said this once, and I'll say it again. It relies on how you behave socially, and it does reflect on how you do with others in your real social life outside of the internet. Those who seek attention are a big part of this, and it's an interesting thing to see how it psychologically plays out in a game of mafia. So like, girls like guys who don't give them the attention they want. This isn't a generalized thing. Everyone reacts differently, but this is true from my experience, what I've seen, and what I've heard. So how do people react when they just get ignored in a game, or don't get the response they want. I've done this before to a lot of people, denying their demands and plain ignoring them. They just start pushing you harder in vanity, but if you haven't said anything damning, they usually drop the case. If you have, others will pick up on it and scumread you for not responding to valid points. On the other hand, if you engage in them in a 1v1 argument, rarely does someone come out being obvtown and someone else obvscum unless it was like that from the beginning. I think it's really a matter of who plays like what and how to deal with them. If you have a really loud, attention seeking obnoxious person, then them being ignored is actually going to shut down their playstyle. Whereas, if you have an intelligent passive person, engaging with them in a logical debate with others involved could lead to see that you get townread if you bring up valid and logical points.

Just some things I like to talk about.

Mafia can be looked at in thousands of different ways, but it's always cool to see the outlook of a new perspective or even one you in part agree with or is similar to how you think.

I agree about the ego part at least. Coming across as confident is really important.

Your thoughts are inaccessible in block paragraph form.
I would recommend condensing.

Have you considered getting a degree in Philosophy?
There's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.

You must not imagine that for beings like you and us there can be laughter. The low men laugh, and we envy them. But for us, the higher ones, there is no laughter, only an unending vigil, purely serious, stretching on into the night.

You're right and wrong about the ego thing. I remember one game where the scum team was pushing really hard for me to get mislynched and I was certain that I knew one of the players was scum. We fought for a long time and after the momentum of my wagon died down he tried to call for a truce, but I was convinced he was scum and kept pushing until he was finally lynched and flipped scum. So it pays to trust yourself. But in pretty much every other game that I've played everyone has been certain that I'm scum and lynched me even though I'm always town. They're all like "There's no way you're town. There's nothing to discuss. You're scum." So who doesn't really help you out all of the time or even most of the time. So I guess you have to somehow train your intuition or something so that it's on point
