or longest game on site

but since that may be hard to find am also curious what is the longest game you have personally played or spectated

I'm not sure whether that list is up to date—the page was last updated in April 2016, but I don't know that that necessarily indicates 100% accuracy. also, apparently I was in the longest newbie game ever??? weird

It's also worth mentioning Chess Mafia, which was disqualified from the Records page due to doubts about whether it was actually a Mafia game (theoretically scumhunting could have helped but the players decided to just play chess instead), but was ridiculously long (Oct 11, 2008 to Aug 24, 2010).

It went on so long that the mod was forced out by the players for not keeping the game on, and then the game started being moderated by a hydra of the scum. (page containing these events). It can't be often that the same players are playing and modding a game at the same time, in a non-bastard game.

wow.. player and mod in same game?
looked at that game and looks interesting but could not help but cringe at all the horrible chess moves

I thought, "I can handle it, I'm good at chess!"

getting myself in to, and quickly realized how very much NOT good at chess I was.

I hold some regrets about me mass-replacing-out of all my games at that point in time.
Chess Mafia was not one of those regrets.
