I don't honestly think Sir Bastion is a PR, he's too outspoken for it. But he's also a pain in the ass.

i don't know if our NY game is applicable to this, but I felt you had generally pretty good reads (a50 was pseudo clear, he was gonna be a tough lynch regardless) and you saved yourself from a powerwagon that was happening mostly because of 1. zach/agar powertripping 2. boredom from certain parties (me, dunn). i think it's infuriating being wrong after focusing and studying a game for months and being wrong, or being lynched. but pracitce makes perfect. i got lynched in both my newbie games, and almost quit the site in the middle of my second one. nothing will change about the game of mafia from what you've experienced. imo the only thing that will change is your opinion.

Yeah, you have a 2016 joindate, even!

That means it took less than a year!

Really impressive that you managed to discover this so quickly.
How long did it take for you guys to start feeling this way? :P so that means you enjoyed playing for a long time right? What made things spiral?
the realization that people are more enjoyable when you aren't constantly making judgments about whether people are incompetent at the game and/or outright morons versus actively trying to harm you

get real friends and do real friend things that uplift everyone involved

if I'm not mistaken kuribo's comparison to a game that is not you vs. enemies
vs. supposed allies
doesn't work out

I only meant it insofar as you shouldn't feel bad for trying to lynch someone.

Honestly mafia really depends on the player base, depending on the player base you either could be having a lot of fun or end up just sick of the game.

Pretty much when you have to make judgments on people and those judgements tend to not be very pleasant ones of other players, it can sour your taste on the game.

As Town you absolutely shouldn't. If you ever have to apologize for lynching someone (SpyreX in Mafia Behind the Maiden comes to mind) then you're doing it wrong.

As scum it really does hurt because winning doesn't just involve defeating logic so much as killing people's spirit. Getting the good players you inevitably need to lynch out of the game generally requires two weeks of actively sapping their motivation to defend themselves, as well as everyone else's will to continue playing. It seems so much more efficient to cut to the chase and start off with no will to play.

Disclaimer: I only seem to draw scum in games where either half the player list is familiar with each other (whether I am as well or not) or in so-called "all-star" games. Every scum win I got was done the hard way.

Hey now nothing wrong with a little heartstrings.

The real key, and we all have to remember it, is to make sure it stays game and not become real. I've gotten so in the zone i could feel myself becoming personal and had to walk away.

And i tend to be a fairly passionate player so that makes a hard path sometimes.

It's both one of the best and worst games I've ever played
