As town: Look for town-tells and genuine scum-hunting from players -> Attain town-reads -> Narrow down the likely suspects via town-reads then lynch them
As scum: Look for town-tells whilst simultaneously looking for PR-tells and scum-tells from townies that you can push on for -> Push/Lynch players outside your strongest town-reads + kill PR-reads at night phase
Dmitry Davidoff may have created the game of mafia but he never mastered it. As a mafia enthusiast/aficionado; I'm here to master the game.
As town:
1.) Form a murderblock that's at least more town than not.
2.) Murder all others.
3.) Use your mouthwords.
As scum:
1.) Find out what it'll take to dissolve all town cohesion and get them twirling and murdering without thinking.
2.) Break kuribos heart.
3.) Know when #1 requires doing nothing versus being clever.
There's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.
You must not imagine that for beings like you and us there can be laughter. The low men laugh, and we envy them. But for us, the higher ones, there is no laughter, only an unending vigil, purely serious, stretching on into the night.
Use the right amount of words to get the job done. If you give 20 points on why x is scum, every town will find 3 to argue with, lynch you and then promptly forget everything you ever said

plus if you have that many points against someone it'll look more like you were intentionally digging up shit on them and are more focused on smearing them rather than actually trying to get them lynched
learned that the hard way
i no longer strictly go by they/them and honestly prefer she/her but they/them's fine if you're used to it i guess

I'm not sure I agree with this. There's a game before now which town won because I decided someone was either town with good reads or (more likely) scum, and essentially went "I think you're scum, but if you flip town I'll sheep you". (The situation was slightly more complicated than that, because the game was mechanically unusual.) They were town, and they were right.

Lynch all opposers because the chances are they are scum.
This actually works. +1 karma....wait.. This is mafiascum.net, not epicmafia.com.
But seriously though, that works.

It comes down to three things:
1) Amount of free time and effort
2) Level of confidence
3) Mental health state
I wish there was more to it but I don't really think there is. You really do just have to post the correct amount, be confident but not the the point of thinking you are God, and not be an emotional wreck. Do those three things perfectly and you'll be successful.

This post is pretty true
Everything you say and do matters. People will respond in ways you may never see. May those responses be what you intend.

oh yeah its totally true
me myself, I'm so ruined in third in emotional wrecking - and I have a real mental issue.
I play a game about lying in order to get more experience with being lied to, and more experience in how to look innocent when I actually am.
Sometimes I draw scum, which lets me experience the other side of things. Interestingly, most of the time as scum, you're still telling the truth; some games I didn't have to lie at all. (Other games as scum, I lied more or less continuously. Different games need different strategies.)

Have you tried sleeping? Whenever I'm angry at a game, I sleep then play it first time I'm awake. I noticed that I'm too busy to angry when I just wake up.

What if you know you're going to be nightkilled and need to manipulate what the town does tomorrow? (I lost that game because I couldn't convince the townies to stop tunnelling each other and vote scum in 3p lylo.)

RC did it by self-lynch.
