When I first started playing, I made it through two games before I realized this wasn't how mafia works. This was before I came to mafiascum.

This could make for an interesting setup
I think it would be best in a game with lots of people, that would be cool.

I played several of the Spies games before the last one ended 7ish years ago. Google "spies" and "proboards" and you can still find them.

The host of these games started off running Survivor games but didn't like the meta & alliance aspect of it, so he switched to running these anonymous Mafia games. The first 4, two of which I played, had the "you must be living by the end" win condition for all factions. It was an aspect of the game people constantly complained about afterwards. It caused a lot of people to play more selfishly and below their potential. The better "town" people, particularly returning players, would lay low, paranoid that making waves would cause them to be killed and automatically lose the game. A huge bummer when you put so much work into a game and your side still won. It still
worked
, but dropping it was definitely an improvement, and nobody complained that I can recall.

The rest are Suvivor Dayvigs.

Dayvigs can't shoot two days in a row.
How would this game make it past day 1?

I think I would shoot someone in my first post out of sheer giddiness of having a dayvig.

I would pre-in if I wouldn't be judged on shooting someone in the first post...

Doesn't everyone simultaneously win at the start of D1? Survivors win when there's only one non-Survivor faction left, and that's true at the start of the game. I suspect you mean Town Survivor.

Also, setup probably sucks for the scum? Even if they have a decent or even high chance of winning (which would depend on the numbers), they can't really do much to influence the game. The result's mostly going to be decided at random.

Incidentally, once you fix the win conditions, the setup is probably broken for town unless the numbers are really asymmetrical. The idea is that town can confirm themselves by shooting, so as long as you refrain from shooting players who haven't already shot, town are likely to have an autowin situation by the end of D1. This also means that, as you want to be someone who shoots rather than someone who is shot, optimal play is for everyone to attempt to shoot at the start of D1 as soon as the thread opens, shooting only players who haven't shot already. This makes it highly likely not just that town have an autowin, but also that all the scum will actually be shot at the start of D1.

Once you fix the break, most likely by giving scum dayvig shots too, you basically just have a Bad Idea variant.

It's the ultimate catch-22 for the individual town player at that point. It's broken.

You guys forget that in Bad Idea, a vig shot ends the day

Game can't end on Day 1 because the first kill goes to night.

so its a 'who's awake when the mod unlocks the thread' sort of game? That's a whole different problem.

I keep misreading this title when I see it in my ego search

I think the next game I mod will include "If you die in this game, you die for real" hidden in its ruleset

Defcon mafia was a good example of an all dayvig setup
There's nothing that says that a fake can't beat the real thing.

You must not imagine that for beings like you and us there can be laughter. The low men laugh, and we envy them. But for us, the higher ones, there is no laughter, only an unending vigil, purely serious, stretching on into the night.
