War Is Not The Answer Mafia.

Can I have a Mafia game where no one lynches or night kills each other? Perhaps they can talk through their disagreements.

We don't live in such brutal times anymore. We aren't barbarians. There are no coliseums. We can talk through whatever problems exist.

People can still use other actions like doctors, but but that's for preventative medicine like flu shots and checking your blood pressure.

Civil Disagreement Mafia.

The 2 factions are basically cults. There is no death, only both teams using their PRs to try and convert others to their alignment (read as "persuading each other" in flavor). Game ends after x number of Days, winner is the side that has more people by the last Day's End. 2 people on each side are the Diehards, meaning they cannot be persuaded no matter what.

So how would Doctor work if no one dies?

This actually made a good Mish Mash game.

They do a good job reminding people to wash hands. That's how people not get sick and die.

So to be honest, I started this thread as a joke, but it would possibly make a good Mish Mash game.

Right now, I have it as all players would PM me a character background. (Name, age, personality type, etc.) and then each real day would be a day phase and at the end of it, based on the background and communication, there would be a death. (A car lift malfunctioned and a pickup truck landed on and killed Jimmy, the mechanic.)

And I'd probably find ways to kill people who were INTENTIONALLY trying to be too clean or too safe. (Brenda, the germaphobe, cut herself when scrubbing her hands too clean when washing them. Because her body doesn't know how to deal with infection, she succumbed and died.)

How can I make reads off of accidental deaths? :?

Sounds like Act of Mod to me, and lynching the Mod never ends well.
Video games can be educational. The Oregon Trail taught me that Manifest Destiny is fatal.

That's the thing. The town doesn't have to find anything or anyone. Scum can claim and talk out their differences. The one rule is no violence.

Deprogrammer. Prevents people from being culted.
Join me on my quest to play every NES game! Some of them are awful.

Kuribo's read is foolproof: one night he was high on NyQuil, and he's ancestors reveiled Aureal's alignment to him. - Dessew

The Vote For Town setup is hard to flavour as anything particularly violent. (Moderators have a tendency to use verbs like "escaped" for describing the lynch.)

I'm also reminded of Conspiracy, which is technically a Mafia variant if played at 2 players (and works with more players but then ceases to meet the definition of Mafia). It's similar to regular Mafia except that it's possible that nobody is scum at all. Town's goal is to determine whether they're in an all-town game, and scum's goal is to try to persuade the townie (either one player is town or all players are town) that every player is town.
