Which is better?

To learn you were wrong
OR
To learn you were right

Let's say you are town. And thought X was also town. You were right. How does that feel?

Let's say you are town. And thought X was scum. You were right. How does that feel?

Personally I think I'd rather be wrong as I learn something and get better. I think I'd rather learn from my mistakes than just be right. But how do you think?

if you are right then you don't need to learn. a mixture would be best. getting all of your reads wrong in a game sucks, but getting all of them right won't help you improve

I'd rather be right because it lets me know I'm going in the right direction. You can get things wrong 100 different ways but being right can set you on the path to improving.

How I rank the feelings of the 4 scenarios (from feeling greatest about to feeling worst about):

Being right about a player being scum
Being right about a player being Town
Being wrong about a player being scum
Being wrong about a player being Town

being right is pure satisfaction. being wrong is more fun. being wrong and having my reads evolve and my play become something greater is something much more enjoyable to me. it's real progress, game-solving.

Ego? Right.

Otherwise?
Wrong. Definitely wrong.
There's no reason, short of ego, to want to learn you're right.
There's plenty of reason to want to learn you are wrong.

being right and being wrong can be equally misleading or teachable depending on how you integrate feedback into future play
the idea that you can only learn from mistakes is false

I was not trying to say that

There is value to learning you are right. Confidence comes from past success. Being right feels like 1 step forward while being wrong is a step back followed by 2 or more steps forward. The 'or more' makes it worth it to me

I like being right. Especially since sometimes I am very confident and being wrong depresses me. Lately I'm trying to be more flexible.

Once again KainTepes wins the thread.

Also this actually exactly how I would rank the usefulness of those 4 scenarios in terms of helping me improve my play.
