Mods should be more open to nominating teams then I think?

The team award nom for Perpetual Mylo a few years ago was a mod nom by Wickedestjr. I remember that one because I was in the game. I think mod-noms happen fairly often. Hito nommed HunterXHunterX, which he modded in the same year iirc.
Amid the pressure of great events, a general principle gives no help.

I would nom 5 games for best town, 1 of which I was on.

I think we should do this. there've been some seriously solid towns this year.
2019 stats: Town WR 76.7%, overall WR 81.667%, 1 scum defeat involving a major mod error in lylo vs 8 scum wins.

I think the reason the best town was removed was that usually it's not every single player in the town that is doing fantastic, some of them are getting carried and then wind up with banners that they don't ~deserve~ but I don't really care about that. I think that some years there are going to be games where every single player in the town was fantastic. We don't have to give the award out every year if that's not the case, but I think it is going to be the case at least some years and the award should be available in the years that it makes sense to give it out.

I think trying to force "best town" into "kodak moment" is dumb. It's kodak moment not "kodak entire game thread" but that's what's happening because players feel a need to recognise something but there's no where to recognise it.

It would be better to have this discussion in the Scummies Comments Suggestions and Ideas thread, though, because this has been discussed a lot, and there was a lot of discussion about this particular issue in that thread, which should be read.
The failure mode of clever is asshole.

So I started with 21 names and crossed out all of them and only ended up keeping one.

Nominating JaeReed for Paragon.

Uh, forgot to copy paste the nom text so I'll just leave it blank.

I was about to make a post whining about the lack of Paragon noms
but then RC nominated someone for Paragon
and then I also realized how much we lack town players that are above average.

I nominated Leonshade for Paragon a while back and I think it's justified. At the time, the nomination was for Civilization Mafia, where he was literally the
only
player to have absolutely-perfect reads having all five scum nailed, and having consistently scumread the scum longer than any other player.

Not only that, but he was able to keep the scum from mislynching him every step of the way. He had to have been someone the scum talked about lynching two or three times and I KNOW we discussed nightkilling him equally as much simply because of how much of a threat he posed. He always managed to talk his way out of the lynch. And, I mean.

Let's be honest.

Can you really beat a guy who literally talked his way out of a lynch by posting Lion King gifs?

Since then, another solid game to add to this would be his performance in Kingdom Hearts, where he was a crucial part of the townbloc and essential to their success, yet again having great reads which helped drive the town to victory. This is far from the first game he's been town in and done incredibly well, too.

I only caught parts of the game but my understanding is that he also was respectable in Code Geass among others as well. Dude's just a solid scumhunter all-around.

That being said I also support the JaeReed nomination though I don't think I'll make an official second there because I may have some obvious biases there. :P

Like I did around this time last year, I considered a whole bunch of people and nominated everyone I thought was, that year, as good as the current frontrunner (then Spiffeh.)

This year I most likely will not be making any further nominations because everyone I have considered is far below the level of the current 2 noms, in my subjective opinion.

I'm nominating Prism for the Don Corleone award for his work in Micro 732: Miss List. He managed to infiltrate the town bloc that had nailed all the other mafia early, then convinced a Vengeful Townie to shoot another townie for the mafia win.

I'll
second
this and add that Prism played Owners Marketplace equally impressively as scum. The control of the thread that she managed to take and the strategic plans made inside the scum QT were a large part of why scum went on to win the game. It's admittedly not untrue that town themselves had several big blunders that game but I think even if they'd played better Prism would likely have endgamed them.

(Also changing Don Corlene from being a body of work award to a singular game seems nonsensical to me.)

The problem with a body of work award for scum is that in your typical calendar year, you need to land scum multiple times to be eligible. Now for newkids of the current generation that might be easier if they play 100 games in a calendar year, because balance of probability they're going to have more than one scumgame.

But for old folks who only play in one game at a time, a body of work scum award discriminates against them because they're likely to only have one scum performance in the whole calendar year.

If that persons one scum performance is
that
much better than the other peoples multiple performances I think they should be eligible for the award even under a "body of work" statement, allowing multiple games to be judged of a player throughout the year avoids situations of a player having one good scum game, a few atrocious ones and winning the award. It also promotes consistent good scum play.

tbh I kinda agree with both sides here.

There's the arguement that Regfan is pushing that I completely agree with, and tbh those "1 good scum game" moments kinda just seem more kodakable to me? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
But there's also the arguement that someone with X<5 scumgames gets nominated and is competing with someone like Y>15 scumgames.

Also I don't think group awards for Most Cunning Manipulator should be based on a Body of Work, but that's kinda A. Obvious and B. Not what we're talking about.

Hey guys
you wanna know who really is a Rising Star.
Yume.

Mostly because
she has grown significantly from that player you always would want to WOTM/WOTC due to her not posting and flaking out to a really average player who's play just shocks me from time to time because of the improvement I see from her.
Like
not only has she demonstrated the ability to not be WOTM'd/WOTC'd, but she is actually better then most players who are playing currently
and that is an accomplishment.

I'll 2nd on Yume. When the trend is upward and rapid and flies right past average without looking back ... that's what it's meant to be.
