When should I be loud?

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Mon Jan 16, 2017 12:42 am

I inherently believe that the only way to win mafia is by being loud.

Code: Select all

Disclaimer: Loud is different to shout. Hillary Clinton is loud. Donald Trump is shouting

I express my opinion. I elaborate them. I bite people if I don't get response..sometimes. But sometimes I believe that I need to shut up and just sheep cases because I have been into game where town loses because I am loud
and wrong.
Does anyone have a rule of thumb where you sheep or when you shout? I can call cases where I am being loud if I am confident and sheep when not.

But is there time where I should sheep and veto my own confidence or be loud and veto my un-confidence?

I appreciate alignment-free tips.

It just depends on the situation. At town, you have to be honest with yourself about the amount of evidence you have and how confident you should be given that. Then adjust your loudness accordingly.

As scum, it really depends on what kind of strategy you are going for. But in general if you want to stay under the radar be quiet, and if you want to push through lynches be loud.

Well that's exactly what I did.

My question is when to
veto
it.

Yeah, sure. But in general adjusting your loudness to your confidence should work fine.

My basic strategy, regardless of alignment, boils down to this:
-Be loud and make LOTS of noise early.
-Stop making noise and whisper in the background.
-As scum, subtly direct loud town onto loud town.
-As town, watch what happens as fallout from my initial presence.
-Refine approach based off of results. (In particular, reads when town.)
-With a better knowledge base, start making noise again, and loudly push what I want. (Especially as town.)

The exact particulars vary game by game. But this approach tends to work quite well in getting me in a good position.
(The only problem with this strategy is...it only works if nobody else is doing it. :P If everyone does it, then suddenly, the midgame slows to an absolute crawl.)

I feel like this public service announcement is relevant:

Join me on my quest to play every NES game! Some of them are awful.

I believe kuribo is telling people not to rage, not out of the kindness of his heart, but so that he remains the #1 rager
